I'm still a little disappointed at the inaccuracies since it was supposedly designed by italians (Piccole Ali).
The outline you used is of MC.205N2 Orione prototipe, not MC.205V Veltro... diferences in lenght and span...

Thanks. Actually I made three overlays, but only posted the one that was closest. If I enlarge the outline so that the spinner diameter is the same, then the fuselage becomes huge.

Here's a new overlay using a low resolution drawing. The tail is way off, but other than that it's ok.

Congrads on the maiden. Plane looks great. I was able to get mine out to the field now that I have air retracts installed. Needs a bigger air tank, but that is all. Here are some pictures from the field.

Nice to see another refinished Macchi. Is your wing straight? Mine is still twisted. I trimmed it out and it flew normally after that, and didn't stall when I made a really stupid maneuver at low speed, so I guess it's ok with a 1° wing twist. I cut that out of the video.

My wing was twisted. I used the heat gun to heat covering and twisted the opposite direction and left overnight. It got the wing straighter with less trim required. I did a stall series and found that it flew quite slow and rolled off to the left when the stall broke, but didn't snap.

Hobby King finally got those electric retracts you linked in stock so I ordered some. Now that my air retracts are working, don't know if I'll install in the Macchi or something else later. Thanks for the info.

I flew two flights today in perfectly calm weather. It flies great. Better than my P-40. Sounds good in the air as well without the wind noise.

Here's a video of my three flights. It starts with the P-40.

Had to replace retracts when one of the WingSpan electrics failed. Replaced with Spring Air retracts. Air tank was too small. Found one in my parts box 3 or 4 times larger, so replaced the small one. I will test at the field tomorrow. Tahustvedt, your Macchi looks really good and seems to fly great.

Your plane looks great and appears to fly good. Thanks for posting the new video. The only change I have made is the bigger air tank. I got to fly the other day and the new tank allows multiple gear retractions and extensions with out worry. At least three. I'll save the electric retracts for other applications or back ups. I suppose your flying season is coming near the end being so far north.

Yes, it's dark here now. We have "daylight" for about an hour every day.

Dear RBean,
Many compliments for your work on Macchi 205. Please , some information: what is the type of decal sheet you ordered at BelDecal.com? I would like to do the same job on my Macchi 205. Thank you for your kind information. Best Regards

I ordered Inkjet Clear and Inkjet White. Works ok if you follow the instructions. My Macchi sustained substantial damage in a crash, but now repaired, repainted and some new decals. I was taking off on our paved runway, it veered to the left and started to nose over, the prop tip touched the runway. I was pulling back trying to keep the prop off the runway, plane took off to slow, stalled and snapped. Should have just chopped the throttle when it started veering left. Cause was a tire partially coming off the rim on the left gear, then caughting on the strut fork. I installed slightly smaller wheels to create more clearance.

Default Better late then never

I finally got my Veltro in the air ...7 flights ...many small incidents, but all the kinks are out and it flies very very sweet with Saito 180 . I have realized (the hard way) that flaps MUST be used for landing ! Much gentler with flaps on final. I have another one in the box which I will proceed to build cus it's a keeper .
I now have a giant scale MC202 (IMP) , Black Horse MC 200 Saetta, a decomissioned RE 2005 and the Veltro . My Italain WW 2, fleet in N California !
Does anyone know if the Black horse Macchi 200 is available in the USA ?
Cheers
Centauro

centauro, congrads. Glad to see another in the air. The last time I flew mine, had the left gear giving me trouble. Turns out the gear mount was damaged. Probably left over from my previous crash and didn't see and repair then. Hope to get to the field next week.

I think the "down springs" in my Robart air up spring down gear took a set after nine years and would not lock down the gear. I got the HK heavy duty electric retracts in some time ago, but finally installed in the Macchi.http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._10_12kg_.html

My Robart struts were slightly too large to fit into the struts so I had to drill out the struts some. Enough metal so not a problem. So far six flights on them. They work great.

Hi Guys

Just though I would post a couple of pics of my HK Macchi as it seems there is not that many around, I had to cut to cut and reset a wing saddle during the build to get the wings to sit level like others have done, it was pretty straight forward after that , it is an electric setup flying on 8s 5000 bats, it's had 15 or so flights so far, I enjoyed reading the previous posts which helped me with the build, thanks for posting

Mike

limodune, looks very nice. I call this a simi-arf as I had to make so many alterations, but worked out ok. 90 flights on mine so far.

Does anyone have a copy of the instructions for this plane?
