I am waiting for my Zero just now. Putting in a Saito FG 90. Does anyone have a picture of the installation with the FG84/90 and also with the Keleo Ring exhaust??

That's mounting surface dimension, and mounting hole dimension (center to center).

For those wondering about the Saito FG-84/90R3 installation, using the standoffs supplied with the engine matches the engine length specified in the instructions. Hoping to get my engine and cowl installed this weekend.

Ktsai, it looks like your engine is mounted directly to the firewall without the use of standoffs. Is that right? Also, did you have to remove any of the engine mounting box in order for the exhaust collector to clear it?

Thanks, Lucky.

I got the FG-84R3D mounted last night, it went more quickly than expected. I do not have the Saito mounting standoffs so used shorter pieces I had on hand, and 1/8-inch plywood discs to make up the difference. Some of the firewall triangle bracing has to be relieved to accommodate the discs. Blind nuts were installed, the firewall relieved for the carburetor and it's ready to go.

Lucky,

Yes, I just mounted directly to the firewall and need to remove some mounting box in order to mount exhaust.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm working on my wings today and will hopefully be trial fitting the Saito 90FG and cowl this weekend. Unfortunately the Keleo exhaust hasn't arrived yet so these pictures really help a lot getting things done ahead of time.

Did you attempt to open up the exhaust area such as this method?

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-w...l#post12184095

that might also be part of this weekend's project.

I can now answer my own question about which retract brand to get. I'd have to recommend the top RC. The Robart has this strut guide sticking out the side you'd normally put the landing gear door on and that way isn't going to work. I think the strut can be flipped over and fit in the landing gear well. But the other annoying thing is one of the two main retracts stalls out very quickly and it never fully traversed a up or down without help. It has to be replaced.

For you guys installing the FG84/90R3 in the Toprc Zero where are you mounting the ignition module? Please post some pictures of your work.
Thanks,
Gary

It's a wooden 2 blade prop 24x12, max rpm 5600 on ground and 7100 in air. I also tried Menz 24x10 2 blade (6300 on ground and 8400 in air) , Xoar 22x14 2 blade ( 5700 on ground, 7600 in air)

good to know. I have a couple of different 24x12 brands on the way to try on the Saito 90. It would be interesting to see if the RPM increases between the unmodified 83 and the new 90 are barely noticeable or if the 90 is a LOT more than expected. Are the carbs between the two the same style and basically unchanged?

Default maden flight

Maiden flight : ok perfect.
Just to make a mix between elevator /flap because nose up when flaps down .
The plane fly just fine and very predictive. The sound of the saito fg84 is "magic"
Just one thing : i have received my kit(from bigplanes .nl) with some cracks and paint failure. No solutions from toprc!!!
I have also the p51 D toprc : no problems.
I would buy their sport jet "Aspire" but if after sales is no good, it's better to look at another brand !!
When you have not problem, all is ok!
it's a shame for this recent factory.

Congrats! Not sure where the cracked paint is, looks good to me from what I can see. You appear to have a very nice flying field too. Please record some video and post it when you can and tell us how well the vertical performance is with this setup.
