Hello, can you tell me which engine you 're using in the P51?
Thanks

That's a DLE55 in my Blondie P51. Not sure if you are going to get a DLE85 to fit.

Almost all TopRC P51 I´ve seen were with DLE 55 or some inline 4stroke. In my opinion DLE85 is too big for that P51

I just bought one and thinking of putting XPWR 60cc motor. Which one did you use and how does it fly?

Default P-51 Engine

I used a DA-60. Flies great, plenty of power. I would not rec an 85 or an XPWR60. Electric on this bird just doesn’t sit right with me.

Wanted to solicit opinions on this thread about a firewall repair. As you can see from the picture where I removed the engine mounts, the holes have been wallowed out/slotted in the vertical direction and there is a slight counterbore like shape where the mounts were clearly moving in a circular pattern. To repair, I was thinking about gluing in some hardwood flush with the fwd/aft side of the firewall to re-center the holes to the top portion of the current slots (the spinner was low w.r.t the cowl), reinforcing the aft side of the firewall with .25 inch thick, high quality (NOT lite) plywood, and adding a layer of 1/16 ply on the fwd side after cleaning up the face by sanding off all the paint. I would also use larger fender washers to distribute the compression load from torquing the mounting bolts upon reinstallation. What do you think? Any suggestions are welcome.

With your DA60 what muffler did you use? Did the muffler fit fully inside the cowling? I am thinking of getting this plane with a DA60 and using the compact jtec pitts style wrap around muffler however I do not know if it will fit fully inside the cowling.

That’s exactly what I used. If possible screw a strap to the end of the muffler back to the engine/mount. Otherwise they eventually vibrate loose due to the leverage of the wrap around design not having any support.

Dear all,
I've finally found some time to unpack my Gunfighter and get started with it. Now the questions start to pop-up. Apparently the previous versions of the model had flap hinges hidden between the wing and the middle of the flap, as far as I can tell from previousely posted images. Mine however has them exposed on the outside i.e. the bottom. I wonder what happened that they went ahead and changed that.

(Sorry for posting this twice, I saw, that there's an old thread as well that hasn't been active since 2018)

that is strange. Did you buy this direct from the company or did you get it from a third party? If you got this direct, and Top RC changed it, did they include a revision in the instructions? I have two of these P-51s and they are both pin hinged.

I've purchased it directly from my trusted dealer and it's an official product. But there weren't any instructions included at all. As far as my dealer told me it should be one of the latest batches since it arrived directly from TopRC in December 2023...

Default Flap hinging P-51 Top RC

Have you thought to just call Mike @ Top RC? He’s great to work with. Mine are the embedded/hidden type hinges.. You may have a grey market kit.

Thanks, I haven't thought of that. That would be Mike from Gator RC?

I must also clarify that this only addresses the flaps. The ailerons, rudder and horizontal stabilizers are all with hidden hinges. And: The ailerons and the horizontal stabilizers have already been mounted out-of-the-box.

Thanks so much for clarifying, sir! By any chance, was your buddy provided with an updated version of the manual? I know, the insertion of those hinges is probably self explanatory, but I just want to make sure I'm not setting it up wrong.
