I guess I don't understand your problem with the gear. I am using Sierra gear all around, no shims, and where I installed the tanks in the front lower part of each nacelle is not an issue other than access.

Ok, now I understand your dilemma. I removed the included tank mount wood which allows for the tank to move away from the gear altogether. I put it against the inside of the nacelle which is hard to reach but doable and then the gear is free to mount where it is intended without issue. I have a friend who also has one and had to put a small shim under his gear so the wheels would not interfere with the nacelle when retracted. I guess they were not all put together exactly the same. Imagine that. Sorry I didn't go into enough detail initially.

Hello everyone.
i already have some flights with my tigercat. i have two CRRC PRO GP26R engines on it. I am not happy with the quality of the engines thought and planning on upgrading to a couple of 35-40 cc two stroke gas engines....not four stroke. I am thinking of putting two dle 35 ra engines on it, do you think they would fit inside the cowls or i should go to some serious surgery in there; Esm tigercat in not an easy plane to fly but is a very nice and rare model to have.......
Thank you in advance

Hi, maybe to much two dle 35... I´m sure that with a pair of DLE 20 RA the tigercat will fly fine. And with two DLE 20 you will surely have no problem placing them inside the fairings

I bought 2 rcgf30cc twins I've seen others in this forum use them so that's what I bought. From my measurements there should be 1/2" clearance

Default Back to the build again

Got tied up with business but i have made some progress.

Solved the issue with where to mount the batteries. Two Gens Ace 5S 5500 for each motor.

Gear has plenty of room to retract.

Didn't like the servo mounts in the kit so i fabricated my own.

Had to add shims to let the tire clear the top of the nacelle when retracted.

It took six 1/8" ply shims to adjust the clearance.

Bob Violet brake valve actuator for the brakes.

Hi Tony,

Another Tony here. Mine is still unstarted.

I believe that the wings etc are covered with something like Oracover and have been painted. At least that the case with my flat finished one.

Can't help with the gear doors as I need the ones I have. What I would ike to find are the vacu-formed interior panels for the gear doors and door hinges.

If someone has done the functioning gear doors, I'd like to get some hints and/or pics.

I just picked this plane up at a swap meet with their gear. the gear and hardware have a lot to be desired. Called Darrell, he had one more set of gear left. Ordered two DLE 35's with biela 17x10 three blades. Calling tru-turn tomorrow to get hubs. Great looking plane, afraid its gonna be heavy.

I cut contol horns out of carbon, can't stand the idea of drilling all the way through the control surfaces.

Ftjets, did you finish yours? Did you laser cut the cowl mounts? I see you have a laser cutter, love to get the file or a vector of them. I use vcarve pro and fusoin 360 for my router.

I got Darrel's gear installed... so nice. Nose gear needed quite a bit of surgery, but the mains drop in pretty well. Made this stand for the fuse... engraved the profiles of the planes with my router. :-)

I haven't finished mine yet. Stuck on main gear doors and have had little time to work on it. Other than that it is almost ready to fly. Yes, i did laser cut the cowl mounts. Shoot me a PM.

For those with standoff style engine mounts, how did you find center on the firewall? There do no seem to be any vertical or horizontal witness marks to start from.

thanks
tony
