thank you for your reply. it's more reassuring to make the first flight with settings that have already been tested and which allow to have a not too violent plane.

yeah T you warned me about that...I guess it took some flying to loosen the set screw up enough that I could remove it without stripping out the 1/16 set screw. I hate when they use those

Hi,

anybody here, who has the latest version of the TopRc e-retracts? Still crap, or did they improve?
I read, that at least the first version is too weak...

Regards,
Juergen

Hi Juergen
I have fitted the latest version. Seem to work well, but I have not flown the plane yet. They were not well assembled (one of the springs was not inserted properly, one of the clamps holding the struts was overtightened, stripped the wheels down and reassembled them, as some of the bolts were over-tightened causing the rims to buckle). I checked everything over (checked all the nuts and bolts, added Nylock to everything) and now they are working perfectly.

Default Fan from Rev

[QUOTE=Mpizpilot;12646460]I’ll take a look when I get home later, should still have mine.

Still have, got it from Rev. Flew with it once.

I got the fan from Rev. Fits the Top Rc back plate perfectly.

Hi Stephen,

What is the difference between the old and new gear? I installed an electrical but also didn't fly it yet.

Hi Carlo
I do not really know what the difference is - I only bought mine within the last year, so I am assuming that it's the latest version. The quality looks really good, and there were a lot of complaints, so I just assumed I that have the latest version.

Carlo

The retract set

Tail retract mechanism is OK, but I modified it a lot and changed the wheel. Not scale. Far too small

Hi Stephen,
I have the same gear but had some problems with the electrical connections on the motor.
The quality of the soldering of the wires and the motor was very bad so sometimes the gear worked and sometimes it didn't.
Finally diassembled everything and fixed the problem.
I suggest you to check it too.

Thanks for the advice Carlo.
I reassembled and checked most of the mechanical parts. Anything to take note of when disassembling the electronic bits - electronic timing, should they be fully extended, etc...?

Default CG Sweetspot?

Hi

For those of you that have been flying this plane for a while, what CG seems to work well?

I did see suggestion of 1/2" behind CG in the manual? (168mm)

Factory recommended is always going to be safe. I am further back at least 1/2" and more movement once I'm flying this year.

I have been flying mine for 3 years. I am using the CG in the manual which was set inverted on a Great Planes balancer with the wheels retracted.

Hi All.
What has happened to Sierra??
I have been trying to find their retracts for the FW190 but so far my searching has resulted in a big fat nothing!!.
Are they still in busieness?
When i first got my Fw190 just before Covid hit a year ago i managed to find them on their website.
One year on and the build in starting and the gathering of parts begins, but no retracts!! are they still available ??
Or are we having to use Toprc ones (but i don't want electric units) or Robart.

I just balanced mine which is mounted with the saito FG90. I am at 168 mm with a total weight of 15.8 kg without adding ballast. I just shifted the elevator servos inside the fuselage. soon the first flight

Call Darrell at Sierra and tell him what you need.
