yeah I know, I'll be pulling the tub out and reworking it as it is far too narrow and does not follow the fuz wall contour from I can see.
I'm hoping to be able to get the 190 on the bench in the next few weeks once the old SIG 1/4 Cub is made ready again.
I have just about everything for the 190 bash, just tail wheel, batteries, leads and servos to go.

Hi,
Just ordered my 3 bladed Vario Prop from Ramoser. Building my TopRC FW-190 with a Satio FG-90R3. Does anyone know if the 3 blade hub from Gater RC will work with the Ramoser prop?

Thanks,
Bigfoot2

Mount the engine then install the cowl to fit the crooked engine. It shouldn't take much tweaking.

Hello, My FW190 is now complete with a Moki 150 with a 32 oz tank and CH Ignition, I used Sierra mains, wheels and tailwheel. Everything else is pretty basic giant scale equipment.

Futaba radio with dual receivers. Added the APS pump to help the Moki fuel setup and programmed that to work with the throttle stick by mixes.

Final weight came to 40 pounds. However, my CG seems to want to go further back than 168mm. Anyone further back than that ?

What are some of the completed weights and CG locations you guys have seen so far.

Thanks, Bob

The new UMS 150 5cyl arrived and we checked its diameter in the cowl. Looks good and fits fine. I’ll have to make some careful cuts to clear the exhaust pipes and not hack up the cowl.
Hello, did you installed the engine already?

Just know how did you installed it as it is very tight on the firewall.

Thanks

Hi Tom,
How far did you have to offset your FG90 to have the prop clear and did you go to 6mm bolt dia.?

I have not installed it yet, but it inside the cowl and does not reach to touch it, so it should be fine, and that’s why I got the 150 instead of the 125, which has a larger diameter

Gents,
those with this model I have just come across a report of one having a failed main spar through the fuz where the wing tubes are.

Have a look via this link. Failed Spar

Will be doing a bit of beefing up by the look.

cheers
Peter

Love Singapore, in and out of there so often on business trips 99 - 2006 when I worked for SITA, airline / airport IT. Great fun, Pan Pax hotel, exec floor, drinks then 12 hr day and we would all be off to Boat Quay for drinks and dinner. Good times and good people.

seems to be quite a few who have not, I took my fuz over to a mate of mine today who is also my heavy model inspector. He was not impressed by the tube setup. My formers are not square to the center line and there is a bit of binding of the last 2" of travel as the fuz mates to the fuz wing saddle. Alloy Tubes are also a bit long and meet in the middle, I'll take a few mm of each.

I may try and address it by putting shims behind the center clamps. Will good use of CF matt and some aircraft grade ply.

for those curious or interested the tail retract former can be replaced to suit the Sierra retract unit without cutting open the bottom of the fuz.

the left wing for some reason has the tube and stopper shorter than the right hand side, no choice but to cut about 3/4" off that rear tube.

Todays toil so far. The wing tube carry through spars are a known weak point on this model. There have been documented cases of complete structural failure in air with complete loss of the model. Fortunately nobody injured.

I’m adding a 3mm aircraft grade ply doubler to the rear spar and a 6mm one to the front.
Had to remove the tray to gain access but it came out cleanly and will go back I with little trouble.

The new ply doubler braces are cut to fit and have been pre-drilled for the bolts. Very happy how that turned out.
Templates from paper and cardboard with use of contour gauge do the trick.
The spars are made of 3 laminations of 3mm chinesum ply. Read c r a p.
The t-nuts only go through two laminations not the rear doubler. This is where the spars are failing.
I’ll be getting longer bolts and there will go through the lot.

Ply braces will glued with hysol. Probably need to get some more ??
Still thinking about carbon fibre on the ply face and may yet do that.
Have to get some 5mm & 3mm aluminium plate for each side of the mounting plate.

That is enough for one day my back and legs are sore.
