I think people are nervous to send him a wing. I would hate to have it lost or damaged in shipping. We all know how great the shipping companies are.

Why does he need a wing? This plane is the same size as the Ziroli P47. Darrell have made those gears many times over. Has anyone tried to fit the Sierra retracts designed for the Ziroli?

I will send him a wing when I get my model in March unless someone else send it first. I will try giving him a call regarding the Ziroli wing match.
if I hear anything I will be sure to let you all know.

I just spoke to Darryl. The Ziroli gear won’t work unfortunately. When I get my model hopefully next month I will call him and then work out the details regarding sending him my wing. Stay tuned.

That would be good news for many of us. Hopefully he will make the gear a drop in.

Receiving my RC P-47 tomorrow and wondering what size control arms did everyone use on the control surfaces, 1.25? For those that used the UMS-150, are you using an external pump?
Many years ago, I had the CARF P-47 and I painted it in the Snafu scheme with a Moki 250 (sold it) It was nice to see the scheme again in a smaller version and I don't have to paint it!
Thanks,
Tim

Better to use a longer control arm ( does not have to be that much larger) Check out Nir's build, Nirlybuilt.com. to get an idea of the size. You will need a fuel pump with the UMS 150. To clear the cowl, you may want to set the engine back a bit to get more clearance and use a prop shaft extension. Darrell can make one for you if you send him the length of extension you need

Going electric with mine on a Stingr system with a 4-bladed prop. The system can take some fairly large diameter props.
I'm trying to figure out how to prevent prop strikes. Can anyone suggest the maximum diameter for a prop on this plane?
I see some 25 x 14 being flown. Could you go 28" as an example?

Thanks,

jim

For those that are using the Hanger 9 Pro-links 4-40 pushrods, what size (length) are you using for AIL, FLP and ELE?

If you chamfer the inside of the ball link slightly it will thread in easier. I have also put the threaded link in a drill and spin it into the Clevis that way.

I just got my Bonnie, Looking forward to putting it together. I'm pretty sure I'll be going with the UMS150.

Just want to reiterate to everyone, (Please check the 8 wing tube mount screws in your P-47's). I was able to remove everyone of these screws with finger pressure and the "long end" of an allen wrench. Even if you don't use longer screws with washers and nylocs, at least tighten them with some Loctite. I don't want to see anyone have an issue in the air.

Darrin
This is the fix on the front set of screws.

Thanks Darrin, I will absolutely check out all of the wing tubes!

As we talked about on YT, no change on the thrust angles. I made the standoffs from 1" solid 6061 aluminum round stock with 1/4"x20tpi threaded holes.

If I can make a suggestion ref the pull pull cables on the tailwheel. I originally used the included wires (doubled up) and had a tailwheel wire failure at a warbird show recently, (no other damage). I would say to use stronger Sullivan style cables to avoid this. Going to make an upper deck over the rudder servo for a separate tailwheel servo, because I want to be able to trim them separately. Also adding my first ever gyro to an airplane, because of the ground loops on landing on asphalt. The electron retracts have held up famously, but the ground loops during roll out on landing are getting ridiculous. Never thought I would use a gyro, lol.

They are for aligning the wheels. You can set them along a straight edge and place the wheels in the slot. I'm not sure if they are of any use.

A couple pics of the latest updates to the P-47. Made a bridge over the rudder servo for a separate tailwheel servo as mentioned earlier. Went with ball links on the tailwheel control arms instead of tying the wire through the hole in the aluminum. Not sure if anyone else had a tailwheel retract alignment issue, but when extended, mine was about 3/4" off to the left because of how the former was misaligned. I remounted the whole assembly and got it straightened out. Also finished installing a Cortex Pro, my first real gyro. We'll see how she handles on the ground now.

Looking for a scale spinner to put on a UMS-150. Anyone know where I can purchase?
