July 15-17, Warbirds and classics at Goshen, Indiana.
Miles: 220.
This is the 2nd of the warbirds and classic alliance that I've attended this year.
The flyin was at Goshen's airport so we had a 2000' all grass runway.

Home sweet home for 4 days.

Noel's from Arizona.

Bruce,
Won't be going to Fond Du Lac this year.
Getting too old to be traveling 525 miles.
I'm keeping most of my travels to 300 or less.
Will miss you guys.
==================

Got some flying at one of my local clubs.
1000' runway so even long enough for me!
Was suppose to be 90 degrees so we went out early at 8:30 AM.

Several pilots 'showed up'.

Got 3 flights on the TF P-47 but all were short.
Just got the DA-50 back from DA as one of the bearings was leaking.
Engine was 6300 RPM's on the ground but 'richened' in the air so had to turn in the low needle an 1/8 of a turn and that fixed it.
Had to take the cowl off to adjust the needles.

Noticed 'washer' missing and a gap on one of the motor mounts which explains why I thought the engine was vibrating too much in idle.
That 'cut short' all flying so made repairs at home.

Had to remove the tank and use 2 extensions and a universal to insert the mounting bolt. Was wondering where the bolt was from when I found it in my trailer.!

Two of the cowl mounts, also, needed repair as they came loose.

Sept 2-4, Indiana Warbirds and classics at Muncie, Indiana (AMA head quarters).
Miles: 100.
1000' all grass runway.
Great weather: was in the 90's the previous weeks. Starting on the first day the temperature was in the low 80's.
100 pilots and, at least, 250 planes.
Bad News: Dennis and Linda are retiring from running this show. They've done a great job organizing this event along with the other 6 clubs that participate in the Warbird Alliance Champaign.
The other events will continue, as is.
Good News: Tony from AMA said he would host a show next year.
More good news: AMA is 'leveling' the runway this fall. The sod will be removed, Mike Barbie will level it and the sod will be re-laid.

One of the few times I'm in the picture. My good friend Chris was 'camped' next to me.

Hanz, Ali and John. Ali represents Horizon hobby and is one of the best pilots in the country. I wish I had 10% of his 'skill set'.

Brian and Rachel. Rachel lived within a mile of me 'growing up' in Brook Park, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.

Debbie and John feed us at noon.

Willis and Phillis from Florida with another home 'near by'.

Brian and Laura.

Dennis, Noel, Mike and Jim.

'Sign in' booth.

John, John and Bob. Bob's a fellow Marine.

Brian and Dennis.

John and John.

My SBD Dauntless of 11 years.

Stearman gaggle. 5, all with radials. Radials were well represented: about 12-15.

Yep, another John. Found out he lives in Franklin, Ohio; only 20 miles from me. John's been flying this T-34 for about 5 years. Very nicely detailed.

3 more radial powered planes.

More Ohio guys.

Yup, one more radial.

John's very nice 190.

Yo Evo,
I've been cutting out those 'long' trips now that I've hit the 'diamond' anniversary!
Being warm in Georgia in November, I may 'adjust' my thinking!
Miss ya' and your fantastic looking planes.

Sept. 26, Super Scale Sunday flyin at WORKS in Carlisle, Ohio.
Miles: 20.

Unfortunately, my MC card (for the 2nd time in a month) was compromised and I missed going to the warbird flyin at Rosewood, Indiana
but I didn't need a card for my local club's outing.

Full size runway. 1000' for us modelers plus some 'geo-tarp' for the 'electric' planes.

Pilot's meeting.

My SBD Dauntlass.

My P-47.

Giant Sierra tour.
Stopped by Giant Sierra to visit Darrell and Tim to get a tour of the facilities and purchase a Corsair.
SPC Home Page

Located in the Cleveland area off of I-71
.
Darrell and Tim. Darrell has several other employees but this was a Saturday morning.

Some of the milling machines.

Molds for making tires.

Prop extensions.

CNC machines.

A stock 'feeder' to the CNC machine.

Darrell starting a 'milling' of parts'

Solid stock needed to make many parts.

View of the facility including shelves in the back ground to hold gear, spinners, etc.

Some of the aluminum stock.

My corsair purchase. All wood Ziroli: a little TLC will 'get it into the air' again.

Oct 19, 2021.
Probably the last time out in this part of the country (Ohio) as it was 72 degrees and sunny.

My RC buddy and I have been going to the 'field' once or twice a week and formation fly.

A few more members enjoying the warm day.
