Default I need some HELP!!!!

I've been working on a vintage Top-Flite F4U Corsair and I need help with some reinforcement blocks for Robart hinges.I need 10-3/8" x 1/2" x 3/4" blocks cut.I tried cutting them myself and I almost cut off 2 of my fingers(they're short enough already).I'm in a wheelchair from Rheumatoid Arthritis and my hands just isn't good for cutting wood parts.I'd gladly pay to have someone cut them and send them to me just let me know how much and pm me your address. Thanks for any help that someone can give me,I really appreciate it.

Danny Redd

Just to be clear. You need blocks that are 3/8” thick, 1/2” tall and 3/4” long?

Tom, I’ve already got them cut out of balsa but if you are closer to him and can get them to him faster then go for it. If I’m closer then I would like to send them out.

Please PM your shipping address to either me or Scale Only and one of us will get the blocks to you. You can ship your plastic parts to me and I can duplicate them in fiberglass. Cost of materials only.

I think that I have the wrong drop tank and bomb kit from Firepower R/C.The first picture is what I have but I need what Brad Varvell used on his Top-Flite Gold Edition F4U Corsair build.I'm attaching some pictures of what Brad used.I think Firepower R/C is no longer in business so what do I do now,any help would be greatlu appreciated.

Well..heres what ya do..

Guy by the name of Jiri, runs a place over yonder in the czech republic called JP warbirds. Jpwarbirds.com. you send him them pics, and give him the scale if your bird, and you ask if he can reproduce those parts to correct scale. He'll look up the dimensions of the actual bombs, hop on CAD, design em up, and 3d print them or resin mold...he can paint them, or you can.

Then you look for the ordinance release stuff..Tower hobbies has some of it, as do others..
The pylons that goes in to..you might be able to have the formers reproduced.
then its just a matter of sheeting and glassing and installing an ordinance release.

The bombs are the right size but the drop mechanism is totally different. If I can get the same drop mechanism then I'll be golden.Should I try to contact Firepower R/C in the forum?

Not sure they still exist...the release comes with the part you glue into the bomb...the mechanism goes on the pylon so as long as those are for the right scale and the pylon formers are cut to mount the mechanism you are golden.
So, in otherwords, you find a release for the scale of your plane, have someone help you draw up the former shape to make the pylon so it will accept the release.
kinda like making a servo pocket fit a partucular servo.

If I understand the pictures and your comments right,,, you don't have any release mechanism, just the mounting pylon platforms and bombs

Where to get the same pylon who knows,, maybe ask someone to 3d print them for you,, the ones you have don't look bad,, but yes a different shape for sure, that just depends on how exact scale you want it to be

Those are Forumost releases in the pics, but they have been discontinued, and I'm not sure of anyone makes mechanical ones now, Ernst make them back in the day too

I think short of fabricating a mechanical one yourself, you might want to look into one of the many electronic ones for sale these days,, one example https://www.horizonhobby.com/product...e/EFLA405.html,,

google search for others and to see what in stock where

good luck

It’s a really long thread but a ton of great info/techniques. At one point Vince states where he got his custom muffler made.

I believe that 5/32 diameter bolts/screws are 8-32 thread size and would be more commonly referred as such.

Danny, I got your parts. I am just going to apply some thin fiberglass on what is there and send them back. If you need to adjust the curvature on them a little you will be able to apply some heat and adjust.
