RE: coposite p51 mustang
Geoffrey,
It's quite a kit, that's for sure. The best pictures I've found are at the composite arf website.

RE: coposite p51 mustang
I just got this model from planes plus, It's the best looking P-51 I ever seen. www.proscalemodels.com has pics of the building process.

*Mustangs anon meeting*
"Hello everyone...
My name is Goose, and i'm a Mustang lover"
*group welcome*
I just went to the Proscale website above, I couldnt help it. It said 'Mustang' and i just clicked it
without thinking... then i saw the construction images, and well, I couldnt stop...
Page after page of this gorgeous bird, and *single tear* god... i think its love...
*group murmur*
Damn it! I have to have one! and i will ! and you cant stop me!!!
*sound of maniacle laughter, running, a door slamming, and silence...
*group foreman*
"Ok, now we are down one more, would anyone else like to go first...?

RE: photos
RV Man, I sent a memo to Planes Plus and they indicated they do not sell this model anymore. Did they share that information with you. I guess Composite-ARF is the only place to obtain these kits now.
Has anyone else purchased this P-51 from Compsite-ARF?

When I called planes plus, They said they only had one left. Maybe they stopped selling them. Try composite-arf. Hope this helps. P.S. I will say this, It's a fantastic kit.

You can see by these pictures too how this model is wrong in many ways.
The nose is completely wrong because it tapers toward the spinner in a streamlined way with round upper section (the real one has constant widht from the canopy to the last exhaust with a flattish top)
You can see this by looking at the pictures attached.
The quality of the panels and rivets detail too is very "heavy" and much more marked compared to the original (especially on the wing, that during WW2 was smoothed with primer before painting).
The wing tip is much thicker and it doesn't have the typical laminar airflow airfoil.
I don't consider it a good replica.
Best Regards
Roberto

does anyone know what engines will fit into this fuselage and not over heat, and fly it well? i would hate to have a $3000 mustang that was the slowest plane at the field. i wonder if the cjm exhausts would look ok on this plane? they have some 1/5 scale exhausts stacks they sell as accessories.
the composite-arf site tells you how they sell the kits now- several ways.
for the wing i would like to know if it has washout built into it. laminar flow was fine for the full scale but for models a thicker wing is much easier to fly, and washout is in my opinion a necessity for most pilots- me included - to minimize snaps at low speeds. besides this it would take a pretty large model to have a laminar wing that is thick enough for most retract designs. although i guess if you had custom gear made you might be able to get some super thin retracts made. anyone know of a set of retracts that will fit into a true laminar flow wing at this scale?
