I am looking to get a FW190A kit in the 80” wingspan range. Two of the kits I’m considering are the ones offered by Bob Holman and Scott Reines. I believe that both of those kits are based on the old Don Lein plans, as such I was wondering whether anyone could point out any differences between the two kits and comment on the quality of the glass fuse found in each of these kits. Likewise, it is my understanding that both of these kits come with foam core wings and I’m curious whether any laser cutters offer laser cut ribs for these kits?
Thanks in advance for all and any input!

Hi
I have seen Scott R's glass work. It is very good quality work. I think you can see his stuff by going to www.vicrc.com.
I also have many of Bob Holmans models. All my epoxy glass fuses were layed up by Mark H. of DCU fame. It is top notch. The cowl might be mat glass polyester, not much on impact resistance. No details or panel lines on the fuses. Holman may offer a laser rib set. See which fuse has the vert stab molded in??
I would also see who offers the most accessories as a kit. Spinner, canopy, drop tank, gun deck blisters, ect.
Holman takes months to get a fuse. My 75" corsair took almost 6 months to get, but I was in no rush.

I just ordered my A8 kit from Bob last week.
will get it next week as he is waiting on fuses.
Scott's stuff is just as good. But with Bob's stuff, you get the plans
and more items/accesories than what Scott offers

LOL Steve! yes, I am working on more all the time
I am finishing the PCM 109, and than onto the finish the BT
spitty, and than maybe the Holman FW? or the Z 92" P47?
or whatever else comes along
the Holman kit does not have the vertical fin molded in, Scott's does.
I believe, Scott's has panel lines? that didnt matter to me, as I will do
mine based on the 3-views I have

Am I correct in assuming that the Holman components are compatible with Raines’ glass fuse? What about Platt components like the gun kit, Rack kit or the scale prop, are these components compatible with Holman/Raines fuse?
Thanks,
Waldemar

JG that is one great looking FW. What engine do you have installed in it and how much did your plane end up weighing? Did you have to put any extra weight in the nose? Likewise, what retracts did you go with and are you happy with the way they have performed thus far?
Thanks and sorry for a deluge of questions.

Go to http://mywebpage.netscape.com/warbirdscale/ for the bird information. Yes I had to put a bit over 1 pound of lead in the nose
More info on the first flights: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_42.../tm.htm#427155
