I am slow in building mine. I got sidetracked putting in a 1.20 FS in my GSP Spitfire (taking out the TT .91FS). I got into a long, drawn-out battle with the throttle linkage last night. It got so bad, I considered leaving the entire hobby behind me. Not really. Looks like I need a plane for my idle TT 91 FS now (Kangke Monocoupe).

BTW, are you guys screwing down the servo mounting blocks (ailerons) in addition to gluing? Directions just say to glue it. Seems screwing them down is the more standard way of doing this.

UltraCote Midnight Blue closely matches the factory covering. It's pretty close, but not exact. I used UltraCote self stick trim piece to cover up the rear stab.

I think I used a flexible throttle cable on mine. I usually use cable for the throttle anyway.

I just glued mine down with epoxy. Those blocks won't go anywhere because the servos will be weighing down on them. By the way, I am using mini servos for the ailerons.

Great! Good luck with your maiden flight. Remember to land it with a little bit of speed. Otherwise, the wing tip will drop fast. The wing could use some wash out.

Thanks RICH!! Your Bearcat seems to fly awesome. I have a FX.61 with pitts. in mine.
Had to add 4ozs. to the nose. It would of been nice to see it have a 57" wing span, landings would be better.
Yes, can`t wait to see it leave the ground for the first time.
Its turns out to be a nice looking little Warbird after the decals. The fuse is a shiny one too.
Just wish the decals were alittle bit better(sticker and darker).
Also wish the covering would match(color) better, but its not bad.
I had to use darker red monokote stickyback paper for the area around the back of the fuse because I could not get the decal red one to lay down right around the top of the rudder fin area, it ripped so I made new ones.
Some cool pics. coming soon!!!
*2-of the same Bearcats in one pic.???
We`ll see!!!!

Big Daddy, I had to make the big white numbers on the cowl out of white self stick trim. I plan to redo all the numbers in white trim because the supplied decals are not very opaque.

The band around the back of the fuse is orange on the real Bearcat and not red, so I made my band out of orange trim also, as can be seen in my pictures.

Heres some pics. of mine and a buddy I fly with.
Well I did not have a good first flight(#63). [&o] My Bearcats take off was great but elevator was way out of trim, it wanted to dive to hard.
Got some height to trim it out, took my eyes off the plane for a sec., looked back at it and the plane had turned side ways, then I lost it.
I could not tell which way the bearcat had turned, then when I did it ran out of air and crashed.
Cracked the fuse good around the nose, front wing broke apart around dowel area and cowl crushed.
Going to try to repair it and see what happens.
My buddys bearcat flight was not too bad, but landed very early do to the Stab fluttering badly.
The Stab on the Dymond Bearcat is way to flexable.
Anyone who has not flown there Bearcat yet, Stop, remove the covering and stiffen up the stab on yours before first flight.

BIG DADDY-RCU,
Man those look great on the grass next to each other...both are the Dymond arf's?? Look great.. Sorry about your Cat...perhaps Dymond has some spare parts... I also know someone on this thread was parting out their Bearcat,,,Hope the rebuild goes well...Richard L pointed out that his horizontal stab also needed beefing up...he shows some pics of what he did.,.
Good luck and sorry about your unfortuate event..I bet you'll have it up in no time..Sometimes an hour of work goes a long way...; )

Big Daddy, sorry to hear about your incidence. Hopefully she will be back in the air soon. It's a nice flying plane once you get it trimmed out.

Is anyone bringing these problems to the attention of Dymond? I suspect that they probably won't offer to do anything about it.

I finished mine and am taking it to a swap meet tomorrow morning. I hope to trade or sell it. I haven't even flown it yet. We'll see, if I don't get a good offer, I will hang on to it.

Here is what I did on the stab.

I removed the covering and sanded the total thickness
down about the thickness of the 2 sheets of sheeting.
I glued the sheeting down with white glue and put a few books
on top of it.
If the stab is a little too thick just sand out the fuselage a little to fit.
It REALLY stiffened up the stab and added a small amount of weight.
This might be a little overkill but it is stiff now.

Well guys, following this thread has been fun but I just sold my bearcat at the swap meet today. Never even flew it, but after hearing about all the troubles (and crashes) people have had, I decided to unload it. Thanks for the info, I am sure the guy that purchased it from me appreciated the build quality thanks to alot of great advice here.

Well I spent 4-hours last night repairing and rebuilding my Bearcat.
Its not pretty any more, but it flys!
Took the Bearcat out today for another try. Got 3-flihgts out of it with perfect take offs and landings.
The only thing that Sucks is the Stab. flutters badly with anything more then 1/4 thottle.
I reinforced the Stab. and recovered it before taking for a test flight.
Going to have to uncover again and recheck.
The Bearcat seem to fly good(with Stab. fluttering) and does need to come in a little faster on landings.
It sucked not being able to go more then 1/4 thottle and get the Bearcat trimed right.
Here are some pics. after the fast repair,
"This Bearcat seen alot of action"

That's too bad because I don't seem to have that much trouble with mine. It turned out to be a fun little plane to fly. I had seven more flights today, which brought the number of flights up to 19.

JohnVH, I may consider trading my Bearcat away. I am in the midst of a battle with my GSP Spitfire and can't get to the F8 right now and don't think I want another battle on my hands. If you have another .40 - .60 size plane I might consider a trade. I prefer warbirds and golden age scale types.

Incidentally, the 'battle' I am having with the Spitfire are not due to its construction, but more due to my lack of experience building. Y'know binding servos, travel adjustments, and those darn mechanical retracts I shouldn't have put in!! I want to go to my pneumatics, but I think it is too late isn't it?
