Warbirds & Biplane day at my club this Sunday. Getting the P51 prepped. Making sure gear works correctly, think I have an air leak in tail gear door cylinder.

Yep got 2 inches but the good thing it will be gone by wed this week we closed our field except for a coupla of snow bunnies. If the Ntl weather wienes are right cold will be on us end of the week and most likly stay till spring. 32f or colder The older I get the more I don't like the cold [&o]
Have not decided on a winter project so just doing a lot of reading (mistery novels)

When I win the loto we will be there in a hart beat as we have said one of our travel hopes is to go there. but travel air and rail coast have gone thrue the rooof, and my wife does not do well on a ship.
I may strip the old dragon lady and recover it but its about 20 years old and most likly 1000 flights so the covering may be all that is holding it together but we will see.

It has been a little quiet here on the build front. I thought I'd add a little eye candy as to what I put together this weekend. Here is a photo of my semi-complete R2800 radial for my TF jug. It is from Gary at Aero-Tech. It sure is a nice resin radial. Along with paint, I added the two covers on the top of the crankcase along with the magneto at 12 o'clock. These were sinply made of dowel, abs tube, and abs sheet stock. I also did my best to replicate the Pratt and Whitney logo at the bottom. The spark plug leads are from .040 brass rod. It should look pretty cool once it is installed in the cowl.

G' Day Bill. THanks for your comments. The rest of the bird is preogressing nicely. All compenents are glassed. I am now in the final sanding/filling stage. Getting ready for that first squirt of primer. I will be doing panel lines and rivets as well. Nonetheless, she is looking good!

battery packs can be a pain in the butt. Given my background I should be a lot more dlilligent with them. Had one 1700 pack come up to 1647 so getting close. Two other packs around 1450. More time on the BURP then discharge to 1.1v / cell then hit them with a slow 200mA charge. Will then re-test the discharge rates.

He isn't saying but as his "Chief Test Pilot" and long time Pal I can tell ya, that is T-R-U-E! Not unless you like to shovel snow to get to the field and have your feet freeze to the ground while working the sticks. Gives us LOTS of building time in the shop tho. [>:]
