Don't read this thread. It will give you great ideas and it will take you 2 to 8 years to build it.

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
Seafury work completed except for CG check and engine runs. Will do that next Sat morning when my mate comes over to lend a hand.
Have fitted a Hawk 22x12 wooden prop. Will see what RPM the GT-80 develops on that. Also have a Hawk 23x12.
Seafury back home in the trailer.
P47 is back on the becnch! [:-]

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
Not much of a builder yet, so I won’t be doing a lot of mods on it. [&o] I have a corsair that I had to pull out of because I didn’t feel that I was ready.
ON the P47 I have the fuse built and ready to sheet the bottom. Had to stop on the wings because i am waiting on my landing gear to get here, which should be tomorrow. Will be using robart retracts, JR servos all the way around, and was thinking of a DLE 20cc to pull it. What do u guys think?

Plans recommend a 41cc gas engine. OK if you build light - if not consider a 50cc-60cc engine as Peter indicated.
Good luck with the build.

yeah, yeah I hear you! Hoping to do engine runs in 2 weeks, which is Australia Day long weekend. We have a Warbird day later in Feb at a private club, small numbers of flyers and a great strip for test flying. Hopfully will get a mate to shoot some video as well.

Is it the small kit or the GS?

good point, I had assumed it was the giant size but might be the smaller version in which case the DLE20 is probably ok.
if it is the smaller one then I would say forget all the scale mods, build it as per plans and build it light, go fly then move onto big stuff.

Charles if I may suggest when you build the wing. The landing gear area is weak, if you would like I can e-mail what I did to mine to beef it up so the gear stay in. I went through a steep learning curve on mine.

Ok Seafury is balanced. I though at first Iwould have to add an addtional 2lb of weight to the nose but turned out I had the balance point wrong. Double checked the plans ad set it in right postion. Turns out it balanced perfectly with the existing nose weight and new GT-80 setup so very happy at that.
41.12lbs all up.
Forgot to buy a plumb bob so a 3/16thth drill bit and a phillips head screw driver made one! See pic. CG spot on in the middle of the balance range.
20.5kg.

Hey guys (mates). Here I go with yet another dumb question but maybe it will give someone a chuckle not that it is really funny just how clueless I am, but I can live with that. Peter you said get a good set of 3 views to help layout the posistion of the gear mods. So, here is the dumb question wait for it wait for it, here it comess "where" do I get these illustrious 3-views so I can get them blown up. Does that require large explosives or just a small charge. Thanxs guys you are great I check this thread everyday just for a laugh.

we actually dont use the term "mates" It is used as simply "hey mate", or "my mate Bob"
Some Oz 101 for you! [8D]
ed as for 3 views there are sites online that have them though I get reference books, prefer to use 1:48 scale. There are a pile available. Google is amazing at finding them.

http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/biblio/s...etail/aero.htm
I have most of the ones here plus a heap of others. Aerodetail series are very good.
Umm evening here now, 11.43PM to be exact! Yeah it is coming along nice.
Been fiddling with the retracts on the P47, not happy with the post set up, might have to adjust the rails a bit. Angles not quite to my liking.

Ya I know about those angles, even after building that mock up to get good patterns mine still came out a bit off but no one hear will know but me, but they do work well. My big problem has been getting the strut door to stay just right but after a coupla of my hard landings. Things seem to change

yeah well I'm trying to get both sides just right. staboard one is perfect and will use that to modify the other side. Might mean some re-work on the main door.
The smaller trailing door and it's linkages though will then need to be redone and that is a painful job. Oh well.
Fun!

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
actually got out for a fly today with my astrohog. Engine quit and as somebody was crossing the strip I had to turn and consequently I landed in the top of atree with the model tumbeling to the ground. I could see bits and pices falling and thought it would be wrecked.
On getting to it I found it was sitting on it's wheels intact with only a couple of small holes about 3/8th " towards leading edge and some compression dings to the leading edge. That is might strong balsa! It actually broke branches.
Some 100 minle an hour tape, new plastic clevis and it is ready to fly again. Amazing! Thank you the gods of modellers!
