Hay Tom nice stand, what material soft wood or hard ?

Boy do I hear you on the wind we have only had 2 nice days so far this spring, have converted over to a sparky thingy a ( HOG ) only because it flies good in wind and is all most indestructible, but I will find a way if I don't get my thumbs working.

+1 Pete on having a good time with good frinds

cheers Bob T

Mick,

agree mate, thoyugh even if wind had abated I could not fly with the retract problem. Could have fixed it easy enough though if I was so inclined.

I only took a couple of pics as well on my iPhone.

yes good to get back to it, seeing yours at the field got me a little motivated.

I actually did about 2 hours on it last nighyt rubbing back red blade filler on the hanger rash areas and around the canopy frame. Have to apply a little more here and there but not a big deal. Once that is done will squirt a little primer, touch up the rivets then move onto the fitting of the cowl.

Then retract rails, couple of aohter fiddly jobs and it is painting time.

cheers
Peter

Tom,
nice job on that stand. I would be very mindful of teh tail pendulum effect while in transport. You have a long moment arm happening there just begging to snap that tail off.

When I do mine I will create a circular cradle with padding for the rear fuz and a padded support just where your front support is but not using the wing dowell locators. I think that would induce too much stressinto the airframe. I will simplay have a wide pad with suitable rubber ype padding to distribute. Will hold it down with ocky straps over padding streched over the top of the fuz.

cheers
Peter

no 47 work but I did get the new ignition module for my MVVS 30 on the Tiger Moth so got that fitted, Refitted the engine and and all the bits.

Will give that a run on saturday and retune. Hopefully all the woes are now cured.

This is going to shock your system I know. I'm considering selling my P-47. I'm asking $3000 and for those that followed this thread will know that that isn't to much. It is bind and fly with a JR DSM-2 9 channel receiver. It includes the inner door sequencer (not installed). The display prop and the wing bag my wife made.

If you're interested PM me.

Don't worry. Nobody will buy it unless I give it away. I'm not doing that.

Well a little up date, with the weather what it has been I have only been able to get the sparky thing a (HOG) delta wing thing made from an old (corraplast) voting sign, and a good thing its plastic as I have stuffed it 3 times learning how to launch it. did cet the old Dragon Lady out but on the take off roll a wheel hub calapsed and it did a cart wheel no real damage just my feelings have installed new wheels so good to go, now we are in for 3 days of thunder showers and wind.

That's about all form fly over land

Sorry for the neglect on my part. I got side tracked with getting my new to me IMAC plane. I still didn't sell the Jug and probably wont.

Here is the big @$$ Dalton. I need a bigger shop. :-)

mate you do need a bigger workshop. that is a big plane.

You need more warbirds, enough of the wannabe helis hehe

Tiggy flew again. Engine seems ok at top end though still not completely happy with low end. I raised the LE of the stab to try and cure the climbing under high throttle. It actually made it worse and it climbed out at 45 degrees. As the LE of the Stab also has brackets what I did by raising it 2 egress was to make an upside down airfoil section. so low pressure on the bottom forced the tail down and made the damn thing climb!

I will use a throttle to elevator mix to cure it I think.

No progress on the 47, perhaps tonight. Did not get home till 6.30 last night as had to get physio on my knee, medial ligament playing up. Ouch.

Got Bundaberg Warbirds coming up weekend of the 6th so might head up there for the weekend. Mustang and maybe little spit if I can squeeze it in the car.

Bob get that bloody road sign / voting sign flying!! Vote for Bob, you can trust him to spend your tax dollars on model planes!! Works for me. Better then the idiot you have in charge now anyway. haha

Hay Tom that bird looks great and easy to see, but we need info size, engine etc, etc have you had it in the air yet ?. I hear you on the Jug I ask around and found I would be better off parting it out, so I will just fly it till I break it same with the Corsair. Still working on mufflers to fit our need at our field. had great luck with Bison on one, so I need a good aluminum welder have t/t to radiowave so maybe I will get my weeks bipe going.

Cheers Bob T

PS Pete's got to be in the bushes some ware

Bob you said the key word. Good aluminum welder. There is a story behind that. I offered to weld up a friends muffler. I blew a hole big enough with my welder that I bought him a new one. I have since learned to keep my mouth shut and realize I'm not a good welder.

The Dalton is 42%. I think 124in wing span. DA-170 with can mufflers. This is strictly an IMAC competition plane. Not to be used for anything else other then practice.

I can weld very well but not things like aluminium, my welder is the old stick type, had it since I was about 20.

Big plane and a serious donk in the nose.

I was just thinking earlier today that I have almost all the bases covered. Pattern, IMAC, 3D, Fun Flys, WWI and WWII. The only thing I don't have are pylon racers and Jets. I think I'll just stay the #3!! away from those.

haha good move mate, pylon is for lunatics and jets are for those with deep pockets!! Oh good eyesight and reflexes!

As much as I love the idea of a jet they are far too pricey and quick for me.

I do like scale, vintage and WWII and quite like the old Tiggy, it is relaxing stooging about for 30 mins at 1/4 throttle with everyone wondering if you are ever going to land hehe

Even I would need a new shop for that bugger, but I still like it. a lot of years back I flew 2 airobatic compitions did ok but did like the cut throght attitude. so settled to just sport flying and having fun with my club buddies, and building I still have a ruteen written down that I try to follow, except with the HOG it is just bore holes in the sky once we all get fairly good at flying them we will try combat with them

cheers Bob T
