Default Marutaka(Royal) quit their business

I'm not sure, but they say Marutaka(Royal) in Japan seems to get
out of their business providing with the kits.
Just let you know now.

There are not that many builders left. but I for one will miss that whole series of mid size scale kits!

Right, not many Marutaka builders left, however Marutaka have ever made
many middle size "scale" balsa kits. Little complicated frame and heavy though.
Beech Baron, Mitsubishi Zero and it's float version Rufe are only from Marutaka.
I miss them ,too.

I inherited three Royal kits from my father. The P-38, the 98" Corsair, and the Cessna Skymaster. The P-38 kit is in good shape, and looks to have all the peices. I'm not so sure about the condition of the other two, I still have to go to my parents house and get them. I also bought a Marutaka Zero last July. I am looking forward to building them. I too regret to see Marutaka close. I really liked their variety and size. It sure would be nice if they put the plans into public domain.

Maybe you could find out if the Marutaka Company would sell the rights to the kits? I can't find anything on that company. I for one would be interested, would be nice if they were CAD, add jig tabs then have them laser cut. With extra fiberglass and plastic parts instead of all the wood, they would be really nice.

Thanks,

Dion

Yes, I hope someone will buy the right from Marutaka
and refine all the kit to modern ones.
Marutaka CAD cutting and glass cowling? Sounds great.
I know nothing at present about what Marutaka will do
next though. I will let you know when I hear the news.

i've also seen that same list on the now defunct rcroyal.com site by 7aso, and in another forum specializing in their long line of kits.
whats the link to where you saw it?

I know this is a really old thread but I've not found much on the internet at all regarding Royal / Marutaka kits.

I just got my hands on a NIB Royal Piper Colt Sr. with a cockpit kit.

I plan on building it as soon as I've finished the TF P-39 I'm currently working on.

Anyone have any insight about the Piper Colt Sr kit?

I have not been able to find a photo of the finished model despite an exhaustive search...

Since you're asking a somewhat open question,,, I'll answer the most obvious point,, Not enough people were buying their kits to support the business staying open.

I have the small Spitfire that is in the painting stage. And I just purchased a Marutaka/Royal B-25 that had a lot of hangar rash on it and I am repairing as best as I can. I have to scratch build the greenhouse nose and make a "J" model tail gunner position for the bomber.

Every now and then, someone comes across one of these kits and thus a new search begins to find out all the information one can. May I suggest to the forum mods that maybe there should be a
Marutaka/Royal kit sub-forum in RC Warbirds and Warplanes.

[QUOTE=shanksow;11910418]

Every now and then, someone comes across one of these kits and thus a new search begins to find out all the information one can. May I suggest to the forum mods that maybe there should be a
Marutaka/Royal kit sub-forum in RC Warbirds and Warplanes.

Here's a thread dedicated to Royal:

I am aware of the royal kit forum and frequently post to show off my finds.
example got a royal b-17, fully built, no flaps or retracts, 4 royal .25's, never flown, for $250
I'd like to be able to contact the Marutaka family and ask about buying the rights to manufacture the kit line, as to the best of my knowledge Mr. Marutaka passed, and liquidation began around 2000 to 2004.
