RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
A short video taken by Muffler, of P51D Mustang 'Marinell'
taking off and performing a short display.
Which concluded in my opinion another wonderful day at Tibenham.
Notice on the take off run, how the tail wheel is held on the ground
until a significant amount of speed has built up
(off the top of my head, I think that the tail is allowed to rise above 50 mph)
This is to counteract the massive torque from the 1500hp+ Packard Merlin and
the 11 foot four bladed prop. Once the tail is up, very small amounts of rudder are needed,
considerably less than a similarly powered Spitfire.
Turn up the volume.
Enjoy.
Regards Phil G.

June 2008, because coloured pictures in 1942 were very rare.

Dear All
By kind permission of the Norfolk Gliding Club (UK),
we will be holding a Battle of Britain 70Th anniversary
commemorative event at Tibenham airfield Norfolk UK,
on Friday the 10Th of September 2010.
A one minute silence will be held at midday for all our fallen
The event is open to any scale model or any scale jet.
(excluding Extra's, caps and Pitts specials and the like)
It would be particularly nice to have aircraft from the Battle of Britain period.
A minimum of an A certificate is required and proof of insurance
on the day is also required.
A small fee will be charged to all participants and spectators to cover the
cost of the hire of the airfield for the day.
Tibenham has three tarmac runways in various directions,
there is also short grass either side of the runways.
Hot and cold food and drink is available in the club house,
toilet facilities are also available.
If you would like to attend this event, could you please post on this thread.
If you could also state the model(s) that you will be bringing to the event
and any pictures of your models would be nice.
There are limited places for this event.
Thank you.

Dear All
Only 4 weeks to go until the Battle of Britain 70th anniversary commemorative event.
We have some good Battle of Britain era stuff lined up,
plus Graham B. is hoping to taxi his very large Corsair Annie Mo.
I look forward to seeing that.

I haven't posted pics on this thread for a while but here is my dads Hurricane that I had the pleasure Of flying at Hastings along with Ken Bones and his spit. This hurricane is the best warbird of this size that I have flown to date.

Gregg,
The Hurricane looks very nice indeed.
I saw your TJD warbirds team at Rougham,
the display was very good, one of the barrel rolls from right to left,
it was like being at Duxford with the Breitling fighters.
I can't give you higher praise than that, as far as I am concerned
the late Ray Hanna was one of the finest display Pilots to have walked this earth.
Keep up the good work.
Regards Phil G.

Thanks Phil
Rougham being the first show of the season was a worry but went well. We've got into the grove properly since then.
There are a few vids of us from Rougham on youtube though

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
We are hoping to have at least 5 Spitfires present on the day.
Unlike in the Battle of Britain, we are struggling with Hurricane's at the moment.
Two Hurricanes are in the frame at the moment, both are very tenuous.
One is mine, which I will try my best to have finished for the event.
The other is coming from somewhere near the Galapagos Islands,
OK I am exaggerating it is Gloucestershire but it is still along way.
Anyone out there who can help with the Hurricane situation,
a Bolton and Paul Defiant would be nice also.
Below are some pics of our Spitfire MK.XIV
plus a Tigercat, which is one of my favourite aeroplanes.
The Tigercat belongs to old Dickie boy and the pic was taken at Barkston warbirds.
I can't make out why he is flying so high.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
For many years I have wanted to post this Bob event on
the German Warbird forum. As I am unable to read or write German
this has not been possible, until now.
Another forum member Antonick has agreed to post this event on the Warbirds.de forum.
I have obviously had to slightly rewrite the post, regarding the one minute
silence and what the battle was called by the Germans.
According to Antonick, the German for it is, Luftschlacht um England.
We must never forget history and the cost in human lives that is always paid in these conflicts,
hopefully we can learn from it.
So in the spirit of reconciliation, this event will be posted on the German forum and
any of our German modelling friends will be welcome to attend, if they have a scale
model or any jet.
I know this is short notice and a bit of a long shot, but I have at least tried.
Regards Phil G.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
The weather forecasts looks OK for tomorrow (touch wood),
For the Battle of Britain commemorative event at Tibenham,
with the wind directly down the main runway.
Unfortunately the lady who does the catering at Tibenham is away on Holiday
and no replacement could be found. So there will be no catering at Tibenham tomorrow,
there will still be toilet facilities and the use of the club house.
So we will revert back to rolls, crisps, coke etc, like we used to at Coltishall.
I am hoping my chaps will donate to this, so that the rolls etc, will be free for everyone.
and the only charge will be for the use of the field,
Which this time is half price.Tibenham airfield
Here is a web cam link to Tibenham airfield

I would like to second that Phil, also I loved to hear that you've posted this event in the German Forums. Its perfect!
on a slightly related note, thanks to you and John R. I've now to install my Bendetti sound system in my Fliteskin Me109F....if my wife ever asks "who's to blame" don't think your safe as her family is from Vienna, and may just show up at the event LOL...
THANKS PHIL AND JOHN!!!
Now my passion for giant scale electrics (with sound, muzzleflash with MG sound) is bordering on being well, I'm sure my wife would have some very large, well educated word for it LOL. I'm just glad you all are on that side of the pond or I might be a permanent fixture of your flight line!
Oh, and my BT Spit(future MkVIII "Fargo Exspress")showed up today. Hacker A80, ICE160HV, another sound system....
Phil, tell John R. "I hate you and love you" for me lol.
also here's a shot of your pilot trying out the fully working foot and hand holds on his new ride....
