I can provide drawings Jim if you would like to build your own. I'm trying to find the time to put one together for a Byron Corsair project I've got waiting on the shelf. I've built three or four of them for .60 size Corsairs and they are not overly complicated, just a bit time consuming.

that would be great. can you send them to [email protected]
I appreciate all the help.
Again, thanks.
I'm on hold until I decide whether to resume the build in a more "scale-ish" manner with cutting and building airfoiled tail surfaces and finishing with panel lines, etc, or just knocking it out as is and flying the dang thing.
I also got frustrated with the flaps (not the hinging to the wing, more so the joining each flap section) last time I worked on it and shelved it for a bit due to that.

Engine cowl
very interested to mount this engine cowl for topflite 1/5 corsair, do you know where i can find this engine cowl with 2 air scoop ?
many thanks
Well, I'm building on mine again. I've started glassing the flaps (built 30+ kits over the years, but never glassed/painted) while I'm currently building my airfoiled tail surfaces thanks to Chad's plans. Haven't made a plan yet for how I'll attach them, I guess I'll look through this thread to see if anyone documented installing his design on the 1/5th scale kit but I'm sure I can come up with something suitable. Will likely try to use the original control rods if I can.
Hoping to have the wing glassed in the next couple of weeks, been fairing in the belly pan and oil coolers and finishing up the wingtip shaping. Also need to finish adding the ply gap seals (top and bottom on ailerons, top only on flaps).

No pics to add but the tail surfaces are nearly complete. I'm starting to think I might actually need tail weight in this thing, the horizontal stabilizer alone (not including elevators) is about 5oz lighter than the original. From what I remember hearing an ounce off the tail is three ounces off the nose, so that's damn near a pound of nose weight saved with just that piece let alone the elevators and fin/rudder.
I seem to recall people were adding upwards of a pound or more to the nose with a G-62, and my engine of choice (EME 70) is about 12 oz lighter so that gives me 28oz to work with plus moving batteries around. But if the tail still comes out too light I'll just use a DLE 55 instead.

Well it has been a long while sense I posted in this thread, But as I recall the easy'st way to mount Chads horizontal stab was to add some balsa blocks inline with the fuse frame with the mounting surface matched for the positive incidence 2 deg's from memory.
Best of luck with your build

Hey I just wanted to post a big THANK YOU to all the builders who have contributed so much on this thread ! While I have worked on my .60 top flite Corsair and now a 3dlabs printed Corsair I have found myself returning here for information and inspiration time after time ! I am hoping to get a top flite GS Corsair for my first serious attempt at a scale warbirds build . I enjoy building as much , if not more than I enjoy flying ! Again thank you !
So.... It appears that top flite has discontinued the GS corsair kit ? All I can find is the freaking ARF . I don't want to pay $700+ for an airframe that I am going to tear apart to rebuild so I guess I will have to find one someone has for sale or scratch build my own !

Hi Pittscrasy,
I just found a kit on facebook from a guy I met in "RC Warbird Addicts" So after spending a ton of time looking, I have a kit combining this week. Can't believe these kits are now extinct..
Good hunting
Chris
