RE: Brian Taylor Bf109E-4 build
Hi Tim, I've just started my build of the BT Bf109E, I've been studying your build, it's great. I'm looking to put in an electric engine, would you have any ideas which one would be suitable?
Many thanks,
Mike

Looks very good! Can you take a pic of your engine mounting and how it looks with the cowl..?

can you tell me specifically what you're looking for? i posted several photos during the build on the engine mount and cowl setup but i can take some more if you tell me what you would like to see.

johnr over at rcscalebuilder.com did a BT 109E with an electric motor. i believe he is also doing another BT build with electric power. he would be the one to answer your question. i'm ignorant when it comes to electric power.

Many thanks Tim, I managed to find an article John did and have sent for it, to be honest though I think it may well be a bit too advanced for me, I may well end up using the tried and tested method. Just like to say though your article on the 109 is inspirational, whenever I'm unsure I go to your build, many thanks indeed.

finished the kommodore and hakenkreuz markings today by spraying the white outline. i used frisket to mask the black base. the hakenkreuz was a real bear trying to align the frisket mask and maintain an even edge. not perfect but close. i've tried to spray as thin a coat as possible on all of these markings to limit unnecessary weight buildup. also shot the white base for the JG2 ensignia.

hi Mark,
no, i never intended on going that route, too much re-engineering. someone else must have mentioned it but i can't remember who. it would be a nice touch though.

Hi all found this forum doing a search of rcv engines and there seems to be a lot of imput on them here. Now to my question, would a 120 sp be usable in a 13lbs CMP BF 109. Its a shame they dont make the SP series in something larger

Would like to use a three blade and like the 4c sound so clearance shouldnt be a problem. I use a 3 blade 16x6 Xoar on a Great planes stuka with a fa100 and it flies great even though I've been told by experts it wont work.

Hi ,
my name is Jens.I ask Tubig,if he can tell me the angle for the dihedral. I only have a bad copy and i can gauge left side 4 and right side 6 degree.
Tubig meents, i should post it here, because his plan is paked up.
I hope everybody understand my bad english and can help me.

I still have not flown her yet. Since moving into a new house my rc stuff including the 109 has been packed away for a while. I'll be sure to post when I do finally her in the air.

Jens hope this helps.
1st picture is the current Brian Taylor Bf109E diehedral with an engineering scale on centerline and a adjustable triangle measuring 5 deg for one side for 10 deg total diehedral angle.
2nd picture is the same minus the scale and triangle for clairaty.
3rd picture is from the older Brian Taylor 61" wing span Bf109E, wing center joining brace. same angle.
anything else I can do to help, let me know

RE: Brian Taylor Bf109E-4 build
Well it seems that this thread has stalled.
A question or two for all you BF109E builders.
I notice that the plans show the oleo legs at an angle to the operating line of the retracts. Does this mean that special retracts are required or can we use bent pins between the retract and oleo?
I would like to use electric retracts for their reliability.
Also what about the angle of the wheel to the oleo leg, how have you changed that?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Brian Taylor Bf109E-4 build
Thanks to all, I have just ordered a set of the eflite 60-120 retracts + the struts. Have in the past used Lado but getting quick contact is not good and $45 to send a couple of light items to Australia is high(they only use DHL).It would only cot $12 via normal post but they don't do that.[&o] Pity as their gear is very good.
