Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry for the long delay with this project. I have been building, but my camera has been down, and I just got it fixed. Here are some new pictures of the P-39 on her legs, along with some other details. I really need to get buisy and find the right spinner for this bird! I'm going to Warbirds over Arkansas next weekend, and will be talking to Craig at Fiberglass Specialties about the cowl for this bird. I hope that he has some resin that won't melt the foam that I made the plug out of!
Well here are some pictures.[img][/img]

Sorry for the double post, I guess I forgot how to post pictures. The two of the interior are to show how much room there is in there, and where I plan to mount my battery tray. I have done a trial CG balance and she is a little nose heavy right now, but that is going to change when I get her covered. I also didn't have the spinner on her when I ballanced earlier, Oops! I think that a stick configuration of Lipolys in a 5s4p 8000mAh is around 14 inches long or 350mm. There is plenty of room for them and to be able to move them back and forward to achieve the required balance point which according to the plans is between 5 and 5 3/4 inch from the leading edge of the center section. So far she is building quite light, and I hope it stays that way. I'm shooting for an AUW of 20#. That would be 3# lighter than my Top Flite Mustang.
I hope I"m not boring everyone.
Good Luck to all,
Darrell B.

Hello to everyone,
I'm sorry for not checking in more lately, but life got in the way as they say. What little flying I've done this year has been with my 34 inch mustang foamy, and my Top Flite Giant P-51. I busted the main spar on it and have been waiting on the wing kits to come in at Tower. I finally got one, but haven't had the time to put it together. Now it is time for the fall Warbirds over Arkansas, and I don't have anything to fly. I may take the P-39 just for show!
Now a serious question. The wing fillets on this bird have really kicked my rear end. I can't seem to get them to work the way Pepino designed them. I'm looking for any alternatives to his way of using formers and warping 1/16" balsa over them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. How much of a Cardinal Sin would it be to just leave them off??? I have considered this also...
H E L P ! !
Thanks,
Darrell

Darrell,
Check out my Ziroli Zero build pics on RC Scalebuilder. I showed some step by step shots of the fillet build. Page 6 I think. The fillets on the Zero are similar to the P-39.
http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...528&PN=3&TPN=6
Also, while you are there, there is a build thread on a Palmer P-63, that may have some info you can use. I think it is in the "Other Designers" section.

Al,
I don't have two wives and two sweethearts, but life still got in the way. Unfortunately, this project is on hold until the weather cools and I can regain some space in my garage to build in. We had to clean out a storage unit, and everything went into the garage. The junk sale is coming soon.

Dean rcu,
If I could speak or write in Italian, I would express in that language, "WOW!" Please, share some more information and details about your Airacobra for those of us who suffered education in American public schools.

Hello Rudy, My Italian is a little rough.
I took it for 2 years in high school and my Grandparents spoke it at home.
The model is from the Pappino 1/5th scale plans but i'm still trying to deside weather to use electric or glo engine. I hate to cut a hole in the side of the cowl. I need to get at least 12 to 15 minutes of flight out of the batteries in order to complete scale masters maneuvers.

ok dean.ma the number given to me and a number Italian ????....... then six Italian-American !!!.... you liked and florence ???... while too two major defects (1) and overly expensive (2) and unfortunately too dirty .. This is because 'lives florence esclusivanìmente behind tourism .... and when tourism and the little town tends to increase the prices of things "museums, parks, transportation .. and therefore reduces the urban services ... then it must be said that Tuscans years a strong sense of business and money ... and how not everything seems !!!!...
