Hi Tom
Any chance of posting a taxi test video? I'm sure we'd all like to see it come to life!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate that. I shot a video clip of the taxi test, but can' find it! [sm=confused_smile.gif]

I'll take a look around for it some more tomorrow... I may have a copy of it at work.

Later,

Tom

Tom , thanks for posting your builds and "how to" , I followed them as close as possible and must say many call themselves master builders but few receive that name from the RC community .YOu are a master builder !!! In addition , its great to open a build like this and not see the bashing of arfs because you build ect ect .
You are an inspriation to build thru your actions and not your words .Thanks for inspiring me to build and learn from a master in the RC community .

Thanks guys, you're being to kind now... I'm no different than the rest of ya, I just have some old tricks from my airbrush and plastic modelling days that help me bring things to life. Actually, there are many guys here on this site that are FAR better than me at building. Mechanical and Electronic things are not my strength... I'm a fabricator and a painter.

Anyhow, I finally remembered where my taxi test video was. The guy in my club that shot the video put it on our club web site... here's the link:

[link=http://lcrcc.net/images/Tom_FW-190/Tom_FW-190.wmv]http://lcrcc.net/images/Tom_FW-190/Tom_FW-190.wmv[/link]

Nothing special... just a couple slow passes down the runway and a few turnarounds.

Cheers,

Tom

LOL, yeah he has a problem with shakey hands, so he passed the camera off to another guy in the middle of the filming... hence the shots of the sky and the ground.

Thx,

Tom

hehe well at least he did not have to swim 500 m to rescue a 1/4 scale Cub on floats after I nosed it over on takeoff. Nearly did not make it back I was knackered and had to rely on the cub's floats to keep me up.

Not one of my brightest moments[:-] [X(]

If it were not for my primary interest in R/C, I would still be into plastics, attached is a 17 I started years ago complete with real dust-

Good Luck on your maiden with the excellent FW you finished.

Tom,

I visit your excellent website on a regular basis and have learned much from your clear photos and detailed information on what your doing and how. In particular you have a knack for proper planning and integrating everything together into a incredible scale model.

I am sure the maiden flight will go well and wish you the best of luck.

Also your how to on fiber glassing using Minwax H2O base materials is excellent. I glassed my first aircraft using your method and it turned out great!

Regards,

John B.

PS As the 190 is finished please get started on another project. I am anxious to see more of your excellent work.

Tom,

Your website has been an inspiration to me as I restore my Midwest Texan. You have a gift not only in your work but also in your ability to teach through your website. Have you ever considered turning it into a book? I am sure it would turn out great and I for one would buy it.

I have been trying to use your finishing and detailing techniques as I restore my Texan. Drop by my build thread and offer advice. I am sure I could use it and would deeply appreciate it. It has been glassed using the poly method and I am now in the process of building up the fillets with primer. I am amazed at how easy it is and how effective.

Thanks again guys, very kind words. Thanks Jim, I'll definitely have to check out your Texan thread. Yes, many have asked me about a book or DVD in the past, but I just don't see it happening. It's a LOT of work and requires a lot of preparation before the build, hi-res photography and/or another person to run the camera all the time during your build. Just not something I can pull together. Thanks for the support though!

Happy Building,

Tom

Tom,

Just wanted to check in with you and see if you've flown Black 3 yet.

I, too, visit your site often for the tutorials.

Let us know how the JDM FW flies.

Best regards,

Noah

Hi Noah,

Nope, not yet. I went out last weekend for the first time in over 7 months, and I wasn't about to take it out on my first flight of the year. I don't know when I'll get to take it out, my flying days are few and far between anymore and I still haven't got the engine on the 190 running right. I havent' even had a chance to run it on the ground since last Fall. I won't take it up until I'm 100% sure it's reliable.
