Got a call today that I could pick up my BT -13 from the St. Charles, IL Police Dept. They picked up Rodney "Butch" Collier as he left the Westfield,IN Retention Facility and brought him back to IL.to stand trail for the 4 planes he stole there.
And there you have the latest update.

Thanks to all who helped put this guy in jail

Glad to hear the bad guy got caught and you're getting your plane back. I only hope it hasn't suffered as a result.

Excellent stuff to hear justice actually occuring.

Jim,
I just discovered this thread today, so glad you have recovered your items. A friend recently had his a bunch of his planes stolen here in Tampa, I sure hope he has the same results as you. I found this thread because I was looking for info on Burt Baker BT-13s. I am happy to know there is one close by. I hope I get to see it fly. I am in the beginning stages of building a 100 inch wingspan American Eagle BT-13, a friend will hopefully be working on completing his 1/4 scale BT and there is a rumor someone is building another huge one in the area. Amazing that there are not more of them flying, they are unjustifyably rare to see as RC airplanes.

Just a thought.....

Why not imbed a rf identiy chip somewhereduring the construction of the aircraft. Would be similar to those used by ranchers and pet owners to protect their animals .... They are small and can be read by a small hand held device...

My daughter has the whole kit for her protection and aids in the recovery if needed. She tells me that the local law carry the readers in their autos. Also most vets and brand inspectors...

Or maybe one of these......http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/co...ng-device.html

Might be an aid to help stop this sort of thing !

Doug,
the brinkhouse does not notify when the airplane is moved - you have to detect the crime and then track it. Over a long weekend the airplane could be - wherever out of reach of the cell towers.

Here this is my kind of device - you arm it and it alarms you when the unit is moved. Then you can track it down and report the authorities (here in Texas you just get your shotgun hehehe).

Pretty smart device - optimal for trailers!!

Interesting thread as I am just reading it for the first time. A couple pieces of information that was not mentioned.

1. What was the sentence in IL?
2. Is there a mug shot of this creep?

10-1 he is back on the streets and as mentioned in this thread it would be good to know who we are dealing with.

Glad justice was served and the planes were recovered.

His lawyer probably argued he stole "toys" - guess 2 month probation and $7.36 fine.

MA - I'm really hard thinking about the Dewalt for my trailer. The good thing is, you can use it on anything!
