RE: hurricane 1/5 scale almost complete
Hi Neville ,
Your Hurricane looks great. Good luck on the maiden. Remember to keep the power on during final and chop it at touchdown. Land her hot. I like it painted in the captured German scheme. I have to retire my old P51 and am building a new one this winter which I'm considering using the German paint scheme as well. It makes for good talking.
It was nice to meet you and chat a little at WOP. Perhaps next year we can fly the two hurricanes in formation.
Jim

Nice captured Hurri scheme !! I've never flown a Hurricane,,, are they harder to land than a Spitfire ? What are the flight charactoristics ? My Spitty can be flown fairly slow during landings with flaps,,, but get TOO SLOW and it'll shudder for a second and tip stall.

Hello Nev!
Wow that was quick progress. She's looking great. How about some stats on her? Weight, engine, blah blah blah..... And definitely get back to us on the maiden! Good luck, and awesome looking plane!
Sam
PS: I'll start mine one of these days!

Congratulations on a fantastic maiden! 91Zulu thanks for the pictures and the video! That video is awesome. It makes a believer out of me, that this plane will fly and fly well. Nev, how bout some more information on how she flew, all up weight, etc? Again, great job!

RE: hurricane 1/5 scale almost complete
Thank you Sam..the flight was good. The first was good the second was better after 5 ozs was removed from the nose. Now we`ll be taking some more weight out little by little. You see there was an electronic ignition motor up front at first and with that it needed 4 pounds plus to balance. That motor was removed due to ignition problems and the good old Sachs orange case with Mag was put in its place. Well after the engine swap we did not check the balance again but found out on the first flight it needed up trim ..quite a bit not just 2 or 3 clicks more like 7 or 8 . So we took out 5 ozs . it flies better at the same trim setting but the landing was much better than the first. This time it didn`t want to drop out of the sky. So we`ll take out a few more OZs until we find that sweet spot. As to the exact location of the cg. and all up weight Neville will give the numbers.
Thanks guys for your interest. BTW as you see Neville was the test pilot I was behind the camera . He`s an excellent pilot and I`m still learning to work this camera of mine. I have to do some more reading up on how to take better moving pictures . I took a bunch of in flight pics but missed most of them.[:@]
