Well, that will be interesting. If the shape is anything like the Zero, it should be nice. I can live with saving a few bucks and putting a little time into the CMPs.. Hope they don't shrink the nose and spinner too much.

I hope they don't shrink the mains too much. Almost all, if not all, of their warbirds have tiny, undersized main wheels. Have you seen the main wheels on their new 80" Zero? I doubt one can enlarge the wheel wells to squeeze in bigger wheels as the wing doesn't appear to have extra room.

I figure the71" span CMP 109 will cost around $220-$250. For that price Ill buy some correct size wheels. Some guys spend almost twice as much on similar Chinese arfs and toss even the retracts those models come with and spend another $200 for retracts. Then tires ect....

I know I will have to remove the "shelf paper" on the wings and Hstab, glass the wings, Hstab, maybe repaint, correct location and beef up retract mounts. But Im way ahead of a scratch build, and cheaper.

I will probably buy two of the 109s, if they are comprable to thier Zero. Of course all the Chinese arfs are still polyester resin and get soft in around 85 degree sun, , would be nice if they would use Epoxy, but thats around 4 times as much cost in resin.

You can go with correct size wheels only if the wheel wells can be enlarged. The wing spar might be in the way.

I hope not. Like to keep the wheels scale. I have not had a single problem with the 3 or 3 1/4" Robart wheels flying off our paved runway until I tried to takeoff from a fairly rough grass strip recently. Man did I learn some new lessons in why you need larger wheels. I forgot how much that grass puts a drag on everything. I have enlarged the wells on all my planes. Hope this wing will permit it as well.
Will be watching for the release of the 109. Hope we have many good build threads to go along with it.

Unless your a big fan of an airframe................

Historically, in my experience most arf flyers don't know "correct" or "accurate" sizes and shapes. Even me, if I don't get my books out on a model I'm not fan of.

So to get close to correct on an arf is good enough for most of the arf buyers.

To accomodate a larger wheel on a 109, I would first consider moving towards the LE and not the TE. Since I'll be strpping the wing of its covering, I be able to do anything it may need to put wheels that look acceptable.

Still the cowl and spinner are the main concerns for me. And the supercharger scoop and oil cooler scoop now that I think of it.

I'm an ARF flyer, and I can easily tell if something is not accurate on "any" warbird (P-40, P-47, P-51, Bf109, FW190, Zero, etc...) even from 100 yards away.

Is it known which version is going to be produced?, most common Emil version or the more exotic Friedrich or Gustav ones?.

CMP normally provides a plastic spinner for thier models with inline engines.

I´m starting to wonder how much it will be deformed???
I have to compare it with YT arfs
I know they are more expensive (not in Europe)

At the moment it seems to me like if I will buy some Chinese car (strong wind etc) or Audi
Same size but Audi is much more expensive, but much better
I´m not too rich to buy cheep thingsthings

I e-mailed them, but only got a response that stated it wasn't to be released just yet...That was several months ago.
Still nothing.
