Come on down...we are getting the field in groomed condition now. It's looking REAL good already. I know Pedro is pumped about another P-47 coming his way, PJ. I think you guys need to make a vacation of it and stay for a week and really infect us with the "Meister flu"...

Dino,
We're cool. The airshow isn't till later this summer. I talked to Rex.
Okay.....I know now why most guys do NOT put the scale gear doors on. 1, I've never worked with metal, but metal would be easier to bend compound curves to get it to fit around the gear and 2 getting the angles right for everything to work was a nightmare. I spent a lot of time on just getting the gear door to fit the wheel cover door right. I don't think I have any metal touching, but to be sure, I will get the plane together, start the engine and make sure I have no interferance. I've been told that metal touching together during vibration could lock out the radio (mainly on FM). I'm flying on PCM and I've been told it shouldn't be a problem, but I do want to make sure....

I sympathize with you on the gear doors. I spent more time on that than any other single item on my little 47 and still ended up scrapping the inner doors because I couldn't get happy with a mechanical actuator. Yours look excellent, BTW.

RE: Meister P-47 to Top Gun or Bust!
Thanks Tom,
I tried my best to make them work enough for Top Gun. I would like to "clean them up"more, but I just don't have time.
I didn't get too much done in the past two days. I was able to wrap up the other gear door and I will be ready to start finishing up some odds and ends. My goal this weekend is to have the scale exhaust and exhaust doors done, cockpit finished, and the plane taped for the panel lines. I can't primer or paint until the weather warms up.

Hey guys I don't want to knit pick or anything but I think the gauges are wrong for the P-47. I don't know how well top gun or other really look at such small details, so it might be a moot point and if you are happy with them then who cares right God knows my planes are far from the quality you guys have. In any instance I will look at my flight manual for the P-47 and check the instruments, they are different for the older models versus the newer models. I will try to dig out my book and find it if anyone is interested. Keep the pics coming, they are beautiful works of art. I hope I can do as well one day.

You are absolutely correct, There were numerous changes in the cockpit layouts. In fact, most of them were never the same. I spoke to a few pilots who are friends of mine and they would change them on a daily basis. So the cockpit that PJ has is one out of lets say for fun, 2000. Top Gun does not count the number of instruments or location. Basically in Pro-AM they look for a cockpit. Masters is a little different. They look "closer"

RE: Meister P-47 to Top Gun or Bust!
I was able to get some stuff done this afternoon. I got the pre-production resign parts in from Dino and I was really excited to see the pitot tube. I was able to mount the pitot tube by using a magnet on the tube and putting a magnet in the wing. This way I can take it off for transportation.
As for the machine guns, I decided due to time, I would glue them in place. I know I will probably wish I had installed them the same way as the pitot tube, but I need to keep moving forward. This was the first time I was able to put the plane all together since putting the gear doors on and I'm really happy with the turn out.
Last two pictures shows something cool. You know guys, isn't it funny how there are just a few tools out there that I don't think I could do this hobby without. For example, the dremel tool, number 11 blades, epoxy, and this little thing. It is a small cutoff saw that I got at Harbor Freight. It cost me a wopping $25.00 and it cuts wood and tubes. I cut both sets of guns in about 2 minutes. Just the fact that it cuts tubes makes it worth the price over and over again. GO GET ONE!!!
More pics to come.

I wanted to go ahead and get the "stuff" around the cockpit done. The weather finally looks as if it will work with me start paiting tomorrow. So, the first picture is the sliding track for the canope. I'm not going to have time to make mine slide, so the next best thing for me was to be able to make the chain and surrounding area looks as close as I could with the time I had. I was able to tape off for paneling and put the hatches on with .10 styreen.

PJ, plane sure is comming out great man...i don't know how you work on such a busy schedule. Keep up the good work tho, Top gun is only like 3 weeks away. Over here in florida has just taken a turn for the worst. I have been working doubles and going to school in the morning....i'm just about burnt out to a crisp!!! Since the company hasn't been doing to well, alot of people have just left so i have to pick up the slack. Found some inter-granular corrosion on one of the flight schools PA 28R 180 so that has been my project the past couple of nights. Just got the wings back on yesturday so today when i get to work i'll start running cables and rigging the airplane. So if you can already tell, i havn't had time to do anything but make a paycheck and try to get an "A" in school. Hope all is well, i'll talk to you this weekend.

RE: Meister P-47 to Top Gun or Bust!
Tom, that saw has saved me so much time on this project. I'm really glad I have it....
As you can see, I've been working a little. The first pictures are of the resign parts from Meister-Scale. These are the pre-production models and will be ready for purchase soon. I've spent the day riveting, paneling, hatching, painting and this is the wing almost done. I ran out of #0 screws, so I have to go find some. I can't go to RTL because I will not have time to complete the project, so I hope someone in Lexington has them....we'll see.
Tomorrow....the fuse....
