I had to rebuild the flaps anyway as they had been torn off, so I took the chance to build proper slotted flaps as per full scale:

Trimmed and sanded the flap to an airfoil shape

Then I use Fliteskin to follow the shape:

- First glue the vertical area, let dry

- Then bend the Fliteskin to the airfoil, tape to the table edge and use sandbags for weights

Result is great, with razor-sharp trailing edge and ready for paint

The original paint scheme was modified a bit to make it more interesting:

Finally here's a flight video, flying in formation with my buddy's La-7

The F8F's climb ratio is phenomenal, and the Frise ailerons make rolls axial

Slow progress lately but picking up now that the cooler weather is coming on here in Phoenix. I should have an update before too long.

mine is stil with 1/2 wing in white covering....
one thing that i also did , was give more resilience to my esm retracts....it absorbs the shock better

Hello ,

I am buidling the bearcat and have an issue fixing the wing on the fuse .
Threre is a gap about 5mm almost all long .

I believe the problem is on the backseat of the fuselage holding the wing with the screws as there is no dihedral on the fuse ( see pic 20 on the manual )
it makes the wing going up on the rear and create a bad incidence .

Did you have the same issue already ? Do I need to sand the wing ?

Can someone tell me the right incidence needed between wings and stab ?

Thank you for your answers

Ger56

Hi Ger56,
To be honest I don't really understand what is the issue

Can you post some photos?

Don't sand anything yet, lets see first what is the root cause

Hi
The photos are not very clear, as far as I can tell the saddle is following the airfoil

Could it be that the holes for the wing dowels have been drilled too low?

If that;s the case fill them up with matching dowel and re-drill
