Now thats what I am talking about. Tell me, have you ever seen a corsair in a birdcage model? Talk about a conversation piece.

Now, a birdcage corsair would get me interested.

Brainstorm here, If they were to come out with an all blue body, the leave the decals off. But have a decal set that can cover Navy, Marines in both WWII and Korea eras. Just a matter of omitting a stripe here and/or words there to make the difference.
It may make the end cost a bit more but that would give guys a wide range of birds that they would want to portray.
They could even offer a birdcage canopy kit to sell separately, similar to the razor back addon for the P-47.

BBOwen, I like the way you brainstorm. I have a very specific requirement for markings. Yeah, it's an F4U-4, but I'd accept any model if I could just get a giant scale ARF without decals or multiple colors already on it. That's my dear old daddy over North Korea.

Here is one I thought of. How about covering it in cloth (Coverite or the like there of). KMP has this on several of there planes and gives a good second to glassing. It doesn't wrinkle as bad as normal covering and if it does it lays back down easier. Go ahead and paint but that way it can easily be repainted in whatever color scheme you like. Next if you would like to glass, it comes off much easier than plastic covering. I am bashing a Skyshark P-40 right now and when I peeled all the cloth off the wing to glass it came off so easy compared to plastic covering. I personally would like to all Warbird ARF's be covered in cloth. I would gladly pay extra for it not to mention Warbirds just don't look good with a shine.

Here is a link to the news letter. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/Newsletter.htm Scroll down to 95" Corsair. That one is going to be out of my price range but I do love that someone has a birdcage corsair coming out. It is a good looking airplane.
Keep up the good work!!

They also list a number of planes they plan on doing including an ME-109. I will definitely look at getting that one.

I am about to start on a 1/4 scale 120" wingspan F4U-1A Corsair by Don Smith Plans and am looking forward to the years it will take to get it just right. BUT I would rather have a ready to glass 120" Corsair already to go. I love the detail work but the rest is very time consuming. If there would have been an ARF that big sold in the USA I would of bought it in a minute. The cost of the 120" scale ARF in Germany is not really that bad when you think of my engine costing $2,000.00 alone. Retracts another $1,500.00. The list goes on and on!!!!!!![X(] The shipping is what held me back from getting one from overseas. I think an ARC or an ARF built here would be a big seller.

I would have purchased a 100"+ Corsair had it been introduced 9 months ago. At the present time, I have tied up too much money into building a 1/4 scale Corsair from D. Smith plans. With that being said, I would be interested in a P-47 with a span of at least 110".

Actually, I drive a 94 Chevy Lumina Van. I have a 40% Yak 54. This plane is 121" long with the prop and spinner attached. It will fits inside with a little work. If I wanted to carry two planes to the field, I can place one of the small jets underneath the Yak. The Large Corsair that is currently being built will only be 95" long with spinner attached, and the 120" + wing will separate into three(3) sections. This plane will be far easier to transport than the Yak or my Ziroli's B-25.
