actually there are FOUR from Illinois, and VERN has already posted who he
is here, so that shouldnt be tough to figure out.
Barry, for your sake, please listen to some of these guys.
preferably Paul, and Vern being he is an inspector. if you have
ANY questions, please PM me as well. I do not want to see you
fail, and do something wrong here

rack,
ive had enough of your attitude. you have all the answers.your always belittling people and instead of being agood stuard of the hobby and the ama . you are pushing people away from giant scale airplanes. much of what you say makes sense but you never back it up pics. you say you are an inspector for ama and you carry large policies on your aircraft. lets see pics of your work and videos of your flying. not all ofus know you personally if you are all what you say you are then we could all benifit from your experience.just because someone has never built a 55lb or higher plane plane before dosent meen they shouldnt and they wont get the proper training and inspection before they fly it or test it. last i heard the ama and rcu for that matter is to promote and to learn
new skills and to help each other. where are your post of builds or tips so that we can benifit no matter what level were at.show me dont tell me!

FINALLY!!
Well said.
Barry,
Hope your not getting discouraged. The build isn't going exactly the way you thought but no build ever does. Soak up all the positive suggestions that keep you moving forward.

sorry you think we are slaming you we are tryig to get you in the right direction somtimes it takes doing things several times to get it right i rebuilt a 1/4 scale grummin duck twice to get it to were it was flyable, nick zirole slamed me at a local flyin and convinced me to make a new set of wings mine were over built and there were mounting concerns, it flew with 15lbs of lead since then i rebuilt the fuse and center float got rid of the balance weight it took me 3 years to get this plane to fly the way it should it started out at 90 lbs a now comes in at less than 70 this airplane has about 6000 inches of wing giving it a 27 oz wing loading when i built this there wasnt alot out there to help me now there is take advantage of it. this is not braging good luck ,vern coop

Winston,
I tried to pull up that video, at least thats what I assume it was. I'll try to go direct to the site and check it out.
Barry
Vern,
The cowling isn't positioned yet and I can still move it back and forth as need be. I just had it temporarily taped in place. As for the Solo Prop. I am going to take my chances. Everything has a breaking point and there have been many cars and trucks called back for changes that fix the problems. If your friend let Carl know about it I'm sure he has taken steps to rectify the problem, after all he has his credibility to think about.

you nead to talk to carl that hub neads to be the same size and bolt patern that 3-w makes . the first 200s used a 150 hub and bolts and they would break ,that 200 has a lot of torque .if you try starting a four blade it will break the back of your hand my threeblade gets me once in a wile

buy that prop after you get it flying, till you get a feel for the airplane it may nose over on take off or you will not get your flaps up in time when you land its not going to do the hub any good to go threw a few prop strikes

Vern,
I already have bought the hub plus Carl and Bobby with Cactus Aviation discussed in length what needed to be done for the hub to work on the 200. Thats why the special adapter came into play. Plus the hub doesn't have any bolts that bolt to the back plate in this case the backplate and then the adapter. The hub has 4 holes in the back of it which pins in the backplate go into to keep the hub solid and from spinning. The hub is held on with a big bolt that slides over the prop shaft thru the hub and then screws into the backplate to hold the hub on tightly. Then the spinner is bolted to it with a socket head bolt. I have had it all together before I sent the three blade hub in for the 4. It seemed very strong to me. I will most likely use a Zinger 2 blade prop or such until I'm confident with my takeoffs and landings. Plus I like my fingers and in this case my hands. What make of prop would you suggest I use to start out with? I know it will be a 2 blade because nobody can tell when it's running and I don't want to damage a $500.00 prop system investment.

I can't wait to get the canopies for it so I can start on the sliding system which Graham with Tigermodels.com was nice enough to send me instructions and diagrams for so it can be servo operated.
Thanks Graham,
Barry

Tobbe,
COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the plane and the prop. Great video and your flying is also excellant.
Vern,
The Solo prop blades are made of wood. Laminated wood for strength.

Vern,
Yes, I did and it made me almost sick to see such a beautiful Corsair downed like that. He had to be sick and I congradulate him on the way he handled the situation. I have to say that I think it was definitely the guy flying the Zeros fault. I don't think I could of handled the same situation as well as Jeff did considering all the work and time he had invested plus the cost of equipment lost in such a bad crash. I'm sure the engine was trashed right. I think I might have been out for blood. Maybe since you know Jeff you can tell me if the other pilot ever took the blame for the mishap and made it right by Jeff. I know if I was the other guy and watched the video I would see it was my fault. But then I could very well be wrong and am just not seeing something that wasn't clear in the video. It looked to me as if the Zero came in from behind and above and just set down on Jeffs right wing. Please tell me I'm wrong!
Winston,
I checked out the video and it was sweet. To bad it was so short. That sure is a big bird. I can't beleive it's only 3 feet bigger than mine. Have either of you seen the exploding Zeros video? I loved that one.

Winston,
Just go on RCWarbirds.com and it's right there with Jeffs midair a P-38 hitting a Mustang when the P-38 is landing and a B-25 with 8 turbines making a beautiful flight and then another video of it losing an engine and crashing. It crashes behind some trees and then all you see is a lot of rising black smoke. It had to be a 20 footer. But my favorite one is all the Zeros exploding and the scale factories and tanks and such. Let me know what you think.
