Default 1/4 Scale Jug

Brian,

Where are you going to get 1/4 Scale Retracts for a 120"
Jug? I would guess it would be in the 50 to 60lb. range
and need a 150 to 240cc engine. Would be quite the
impressive plane though. I think I may have a source for
a Canopy and Cowl. I know a few others working on the
same size projects.

Default 1/4 scale jug

Hmmm...that 215 cc 5 cyl radial offered by Stuart Mackay would be awesome in a nice big jug!!! Even nicer than in my Stuart Mackay FW-190??? Maybe??? Wow...I'll be dreaming about that tonight...a 120" jug...sweet!
Happy flying,

Default 1/4 Scale Retracts

Hello, Brian, Rob, Jim, etc.

I do have a set of the gear left from a small run that I
made a few month's ago. Let me know how many would
be interested in a set and I can schedule another run
of them after a few other pressing projects. With that
much motor up front, we want to be sure our gear is going
to hold up. I might even have to have one of those
monsters myself.

Thanks for the encouragment Brian. And show them how
to fly down their at Top Gun.

The 1/4 scale Corsair sounds good for me. I have a ZDZ 210 with onboard starter that would fit nice in it.

Default Sick

yes its going around its latin name is humungous planus feverus

im not all that bad i gonnd go with a piddly 1/4 scale Mick Reeves Spit to get familiar with spit construction before I enlarge it to 1/3.5 scale prob end up selling the 1/4 scale before I even fly it lol of course that will help pay for my 1/3.5 scale which will only have a 128" ws but I just got it in me to do the huri and spit same scale then of course you have to have something to dogfight against so my 190 and 109 will have to also be 1/3.5 scale then I will have fulfilled my goals and go back to normal sized planes (yea right)

Looks sweet!!!!!! aero

as for the corsair I have it in 1/3.5 scale in corel 11 format. I also have it saved in tiff format I think it ran like 45 or 50 bucks to print them out for the guy. I can email them to you or upload to an ftp for you. If you want them in dxf or dwg just let me know I can convert them for you. email me back channel at [email protected]. Because all the original hard work was done by nick and I just traced them and enlarged them and altered a few things a lot of the original work by nick is there so I wouldnt feel right selling them because I did not do too much altering on the plans so I will give them to ya.

Joe

PS Jesse has the vectors for laser cutting the kit as thats why I enlarged them in cad so the guy could have jesse cut him the kit

Just stopping by to say hi. We do have three quarter scale jugs in progress here in town now. 3 are being built from enlaged Ziroli plans, and one from enlarged Vailly plans. AND, yes, you cannot beat Darrells gear (as I anxiously awaiting my new TBF gear from Darrell). Of course, my 13 foot corsair is nearing completion, just painted the wing. With any luck, it will fly mid-May. Then it is on to the 1/2 scale Gee Bee to race with my friends 1/2 scale Mr. Mulligan. Brian....you go to Top Gun this year?

Default looking better

They are looking better. Now if you can only get the plates to work good with them fancy looking slots or holes some of them have they would really look good hehe but hey we need to be realistic here. I bet them suckers will be a big seller with the jet guys too.

I don't think they will go over well with the Jet guys, because they are too big. The wheel you see with it, is a 7" wheel.
I'm making this for my 52% Edge and then for the Corsair.

I have a person in Germany that is making really large Extras (160") and he wants them also. I might make them availlable for the bigggg airplanes over there.

Default ok

Ok but i wonder how much it is to cut the size down a little to accomodate the Jet guys. I see some big bucks in that area for them.

Once I can make these working to my likings, I plan on trying to make them smaller, no easy task. Right now the disc is aluminum, but I might make them in carbon fiber, to make it easier and lighter.

Default Cool

That would be nice I just wished I could build stuff like that. I am just a beaver and as you know us beavers are good at chomping at wood but metal dulls our teeth

you got an idea on the asking price for them things? i know they the right size for most of my planes as my tires almost always come in at 7 1/2 inches. I fly off grass a lot so normally wouldnt need brakes but they would be nice to have on a couple projects I am planning for throttle ups and asphault flying.
