I have two of these. the wing is totally non-scale.

They are from WillHobby, and are rather well built ARF's. The wing is rather thick and with a decent dihedral so I think it should fly fairly well.

I have some pics posted on RCU , there were two versions introduced 1)retract ready 2)no retract rails ...I did a bash , split the flaps , and added the retract rails ,
see pics . My biggest issues was that major weight was needed to achieve CG , partially my fault with the semi scale retracts going slightly aft when retracted

I used century jet non scale they have a very scale set but way to expensive for this plane .
Also , Evil may want to chime in on this as well , I looked at the Top Flight website on the seafury for suggestions , as far as CG they start with the plastic scoops when measuring the max cord , this is important because it will impact your CG if you do not include these in your calculations .
Based on the size of the Top Flight vs the Willshobby , I used much the TF suggested throws and CG info for my plane

Hi
Is this the same plane?
It says .60 sized on this one and its made by YH, but I noticed on some of the threads here on RCU that Willhobby and YH are the same.
Is this true?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=290254128127

Thanks

Guess this is the same plane,
Chinese people sell their stuff (same) to different suppliers,
same stuff can be found under different brand names.

yes but put a 60 in it and yuo will need a small kid to sit on the front end to achieve CG , I used a Saito 125 and still needed 16oz ,

Ah rightio.
I just received a new ASP .91 four stroke to put in it.

Ah well I will just have to add the weight and locate everything well forward.

Thanks for the info.

dont do what I did but do copy what I am doing to my Fw190 , move all your wing servos =4 ahead of the main spar -just simply build your own servo rails ,
dont put retracts in a scale location nor dont allow them to retract back on an angle (scale) make them retract straight in line similar to a P51 .

the hole in the firewall was in a bad position , placeing the tank in a fail-fail mode as far in refferance to the carb , so as you can see I made adjustements

That looks awesome LDM!!

I LOVE the cockpit. Where was that from or did you make it from scratch.

I chat to Pete from Petenplanes here in aus and he told me a while ago where to get cockpits and pilots from, but I stupidly deleted the email somewhere along the line.

Nice work LDM. I wish I had the gear here to do that sort of thing.

Although I am fairly new to RC planes so putting that sort of detail into my first warbird might prove heartbreaking if (when) she goes in.

Once I have some more experience with flying I plan to get a Corsair and do her as close to scale as I can.

Well My seafury got here today!!

Got the control surfaces installed and the dihedral brace glued in.

Did you have a gap in the centre of your wing joint LDM ?

Before I fitted the dihedral brace I dry assembled everything and noticed the gap. One of the wing mating surfaces (root?) is slightly bowed.

There is like a 1mm gap in the centre of the joint when the wings are pressed together. Will this be a problem?

I was going to try to sand the LE and TE of the wing joint to remove this gap, but dont want to sand the LE much as the ply locator plates will end up with movement where it slots into the fuse. I am thinking this will be the case anyway.

Should I sand the TE and see if I can remove the gap?

Oh mine has no provision for retracts either. Which is not such a bad thing as I dont wish to run them. We have a rough grass strip so I will stick with the fixed gear for now. If we get our mower etc sorted I will think about changing to tracts then.
I will however bend the gear forwards a bit to prevent nose-overs.

Thinking of going for a SPE 26CC engine too. You think this will be too big?

Might be overkill for this size plane perhaps.......

By the way, Dave Platt will tell you, " I build and fly Fighters, not targets."
