Hi Jeff. Your right, The food is great and so is the club and the people. I was hoping to bring my b17 but i'm having tech problems that will probably keep it at home. I hear there should b 4 other b 17s there. I wanted to be the fifth.Well even if i dont fly it's worth the drive just for the dinner.

Hey everyone I can't wait. I was at the field last weekend and it's looking great. We've had a little rain move through and the grass is looking good. We're keeping it nice and short in the runway and pits area with Tim's new reel mower. The runway also got a makeover this year when we pulled up the mats and Tim smoothed out the surface. All the mats are back down and it's great!
We'll be there this weekend again doing some flying and any field touchups that might be needed. The food is definately worth the drive alone.

Fellas! We're counting down the hours...planning on leaving early on the 7th. so should be arriving Thurs. evening. Lora will be flying up Thurs. morning for the golf thing. We're looking foreward to a great weekend...still haven't decided what to bring...except for the video camera! If there's anyone out there who is still undecided on whether to attend this event or not...trust me. It's one of the best around. And man, they grow those warbirds BIG up there. Hey Jeff, any news on the Yellow Spit??. Should we leave some room in the trailer??

Anybody gonna have any B25's up there? I guess Clark and I could fly with B17's but of course we'd be a bit higher.By the way how's the corn lookin'? Also heard about the private jet that crashed at the local airport...very sad...hope it wasn't anybody you guys know.

I'll have a small B-25 there. It's a 50" electric powered one. I beleive off the back side of the field this year it's all beans. Along the east end the corn is doing pretty well.
I'll be out there tomorrow and try to snap some pics of the field. It's looking pretty good.
I don't believe anyone out here knew anyone on that flight. It's really too bad that it happened.

We had a great day at the field this sat. We even sacrificed a GWS zero to the bean field in hopes of keeping it's appitite low for grabbing planes next week.
The grass is very nice thanks to Tim's efforts and his reel mower. He's keeping the pits and runway area down to 3/4". He also rolled out the field so it's nice a smooth.
I took some shots of the field to get everyone warmed up for next weekend. The weather is looking great with temps right around 80 and sunny! The plan is to get the registration going as early as we can on friday morning and have a pilots meeting at 9am.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and some great flying warbirds!

Is there any restrictions on bringing turbines for the Northern Alliance event this weekend other the having a current AMA waiver? I see an F-15 in the pics with the tell-talel exhause plume.......anywhere locally in Owatonna to buy Kero? hate to drive 1000 miles only to go home......

No restrictions that I know of. In fact I'm sure Tim will be happy to see more turbines this year. The F-15 in the pic is his and he was putting a few flights on it to get it ready for this weekend. I do believe we have even allowed a couple non military turbines to fly in past years. There is a Fleet Farm where you can get Kero as long as you bring a yellow container to dispense it into. The local airport also sells Jet-A fuel. Both Phil and Tim can help you locate the local sources but they are within about 15 miles of the field at most.
Check the contact info on http://www.smmac.com for Tim or Phil and talk to them for any specifics you are curious about.
Just a couple days to go!

Weather update!
The short term forecast shows sunny skies, mid 70's and a nice calm 5 mph breeze for friday. Sat is looking to be about the same with temps maybe going into the low 80's.
Looks to be just abot perfect weather. So pack the sunscreen!

It was a good weekend. The weather was great! I'm still beat from all the sun. I didn't get my camera out as much as I'd like but I did try to get a few good shots. So to hopefully start off the photo sharing here are a few of mine mostly from friday.
