Crazy Evil, even though my Mig 3 is only sport scale It is still a Mig 3 and I have just plotted the Andersen plans for his 1\5 TA 152 (114" span). This one I will be making very scale. I am sure we could hang out and at least talk a lot about the Focke Wulf designs. You should come out to the Warbirds over the Rockies this summer. I will buy you a beer.

The Anderson Ta-152 plans are quite nice. It will build a wonderful looking bird.
Honestly, the only MiG-3 I cannot stand is the one from VQ. MOstly because I own one and it has been nothing but problems. That being said there is a VERY nice smaller electric MiG-3 making the rounds, glass fuse and the fuse looked rather spot on. I have the link at home, not the office so I will post it later...
Thats a bit of a hike for me. I'm going to WRAM (non flying of course), Top Gun 2009, WOD and Rhienbeck 2009 for this season. I wish I could get to more events but it seems everything major is either in the middle of the country or on the other side!

You will have to change the horizontal stab a bit if you are going late model... that is if you wanna go scale.
Interesting configuration for the wing Check6. I'll probably just go three piece to make the build easier for me. I hate trying to figure stuff out like you did! *grin*

Hi Evil,
Basically building the Mig stock out of the box. I'm not interested in exact scale, just want a nice looking and flying warbird. This wing separation is pretty easy and you are dealing with a straight panel. Retract installation next. More engineering since the plans only show fixed gear. LOL
Thanks,
Fred

Rertract installation is basically cut, fit, cut again fit again. LOL First picture is half of the center panel. 2nd. picture is the beginning of retract fabrication. I removed the first 2 plywood ribs to accomodate the wheel area. These ribs will be glued back in when the wheel area is finalized. 3 rd. pic is where cut outs were made for the maple rails. The front rails are deeper which allows the strut to swing forward putting the axel right on the leading edge. Perfect position for ground handling.

Rails placed in not glued yet and retract unit located. Everything fits fine. Will make patterns of the angles for the second retracts. This should go a lot quicker. Everything will be tack glued when fitted properly and then reinforced with doublers.

Its hard to tell from that image, but the struts look a bit long. What size is it? Who made it? It looks like Shindin?
On the fullscale I'll have to double check but I think the strut was 1300mm long with a 270 mm stroke.
Wheel size was 600mm by 180mm for reference.

Hi Evil,
I took the measurements off the plans. Strut length is 26 cm from pivot to axel. 10 1/2 in. long with a stroke of 2 1/2 in. 5 in. wheel will fit without any modifications, 5 1/2 will need some shaving around the spar area. These are Shindin retracts with the heavy duty struts also have the scissors for them which are purely cosmetic

Hi Dan,
Each wing panel will have a 1/2 in. dowel in the leading edge and a wing hold down bolt in the trailing edge. Picture it as a conventional one piece wing with leading edge dowels and bolts at the rear. Once it's all together it will be locked in with the rear hold down bolts.
Hope this helps. I will have more detailed pics of this once I get to that point.
Thanks,
Fred

Fokke, great work on your mold. Where are you at with it now? What is your progress?

The mig in this video looked underpowered and undercontrolled but an inspiration just the same
