Hi I have just purchased the last 1/3 La-7 from Vogelsang Aeroscale , unfortunately the kit is incomplete Vogelsang and myself have both contacted Scalewings to complete this kit, but as usual Scalewings choose to do nothing. Anyway could some one please let me know the diameter of the spinner for this La-7 as i am trying to match it with possibly the airworld yak 11 spinner [which is 195mm dia, 225 long] .the other missing parts i can get around [engine dome , wheels. cockpit panel. fuel tank] For anyone interested Vogelsang Aeroscale has a 1/4 scale LA-7 in stock and is awesome to deal with[ could possibly be the last kit for a while or ever.]
With Thanks Mark

Hello Mark: This is too bad. Such a great kit otherwise. The spinner at its base is 5.25 inches dia. The total height is 4.2inches. The exact fuel tank can be purchased at Aircraftinternational. The approximate dims are 3.75 inches dia and 8.0 in tall with cap. Also, you can get the panel from Alex at Iflytailes.com

I too have tried contacting Scalewings -- he is not interested in this anymore. No responses ever.

Hello James,Thankyou very much for the dimensions you gave me looks like large yak spinner is way to big,yes am very disapointed about the incomplete kit as i paid for the missing bits as well as import tax and fees. unfortunately Gotz took it on good faith the kit was complete and did not check it before being shipped. I think Hans at Scalewings has moved on to his Mustang project , as like yourself I Emailed and phoned him a lot, to not 1 response and told me of numerous other enquiry's about the LA-7, I give it a 99% chance he will do nothing and I will never see these missing parts. Gotz gave me your email address in case i had any issues with the build ,[hope this is okay ] Your La-7 looks great ,have you flown her Yet

I have just purchased some LA-7 parts from SL-PROPELLERS, he is very good to deal with and prompt with communication and deliveries. They have all Scalewings molds for the kits and accessories.

Doe anyone have a build cd ,disc copy for the 1/3.5 La-7 i could purchase from them, as scalewings did not pass it on to sl-propellors and the one i got with the kit does not work.

Anyone still here?? I I realize the last post on this thread was in 2016 but I'm wondering if anyone is still listening. I have a 1/3.5 La-7 I'm completing [after setting it aside for a couple of years ] which will be powered by a Moki 250. Almost to the painting stage but have some questions. Most pressing issue for me at this point is what is everyone's real life flying experience with providing adequate ventilation for this motor? It's hard for me to believe it would ventilate well enough through just the holes in the firewall and out the scale exhausts openings. Would certainly appreciate some help [pictures maybe] for any of you that came up with a system that was successful in flight Thanks Paul

Hi Paul, As you did I also put the La7 on the later to do list. My La7 is not flying as yet, but was going to do the Mick Burrel modification when I got to this stage (previous in this forum)as the La7 would suffer from overheating problems.Their is a extensive build photo collection on tottos hobbys website
hope this helps

Hello: I actually struggled with overheating for my first several flights - lots of exciting deadsticks. I ultimately solved the problem two ways: First, I added four large cutouts on the bottom of the cowling; secondly, I ported each cylinder directly out of the exhaust ports just behind the cowling, i.e., like the actual scale exhaust. In other words I got rid of the collector ring. This is just my experience, others haven't had as many overheating problems as I had, I'm sure.

The plane is my favorite to fly. Zero bad tendencies.

Hi Paul,
Im flying this La7 since 2011.
29 flight hours.
Last time was.... Today !
Always great.
Im running it with a Moki 250.
My cowl configuration is very simple. Baffling at the front (baffle wood piece given in the kit), no hole in the cowl exept for the two Moki exhausts, exit of hot air via the side gills.
Temperatures at my flying field are typically between 10 and 25 celsius.
Never had problems with engine overheating.

Ok. My LA is painted and just about ready. Currently I'm working on setting up the control surfaces throws and CG. . My instructions [in German] did not put any values for that. I suppose I could guess on everything but for the Flaps for take off and landing I would like to hear what some of you have used successfully. Does anyone have any info on that that they could share? Also I'm trying to get the flexible corrugated exhausts. Tried to order them off of Vogelsangs site but kept getting a message that my email is not a valid email address.[but it is] Sent him an email 3 days ago but no response yet. Is he still doing business and if not does anyone know of a alternate source for these exhausts. Thanks

I do not set flaps anymore for takeoff, so clean takeoff is perfect. For landing, I lower the flaps at 45.

I do the same : 45 Flaps is much easier to land. I also use down mix with throttle, becaus she had the intension to climb with increasing speed. See that the plane is not tail heavy, it will be very difficult to land safely.
Probably Sven Lange from SL - Propellor can also help you : Sven Lange
