RE: Reponse from Sierra
Hi Mark; Great video!! I made a landing like that once, I believe in '73!!! I was in a "dead stick" landing event, closest to 60 secs from engine kill. An absolute "greaser" with my old Tiger Moth, and guess what--- 60 secs on the nose!! Never entered another one!!!!! By the way, refresh me on how to get pics into the pic area. Will have an update pic on gear by the weekend. The retract system, a new one, works great. Now I just have to finish the rotation parts, and with a bit of luck,(and perhaps a bit of swearing--made a part backwards!!) I may have everything "shaking hands" by next weekend! Lee Robinson

I would like any one who still has a deposit with Sierra on the P-40 / Corsair gear to please email or PM me. It is time we band together and turn up the heat on Sierra.[>:]

If you're going to talk smack, you should at least try to do it intelligently. What's a "bone appitet"?
As far as damaging the gear teeth thats bologna, if you did that much damage you need to get you pt 40 out for a few flights.
I to was upset about my robart 615's but its like this LEARN TO LAND sorry guys its a big bullet to bite but bone appitet

I'd love to help in this quest, but I'm to busy with other things. In my last 1/8 scale Corsair build I'm using the old Rhom Air gear.
Good luck,
Dion

I'm in Satellite Beach, a good 2 hours north of you I guess.
Thought you guys would like this gear for an 82% scale Corsair, he has the plans. They would mount on the leading edge because the front profile can be made very small. A strong U joint is all that is needed for the pivot.

Hi Dionysius; That gear looks very good. It is almost identical to the one I did 10 or 12 years ago. Somewhere I have a picture of the prototype(somewhat ugly looking!!). I made my own joint in the manner of the real one, which is basically a "bolt and nut" arrangement, mounted at about 45 deg. I couldn't find a joint at that time that was satisfactory, and besides, I wanted to see if I could make it work like Voughts! It did work, but other structural problems arose, and I shelved the idea. At the time I was still working full time, and trying to build gear and other things at the same time! I'll have to see if I can find the pics. On the 60 size unit, the new up/down mechanism works great, and I am working on the rotating parts. (Made one part BACKWARDS!!) But I have to put it aside this week, as I have 3 retract systems that I promised to ship next week, that I have to make new cylinders for. Needed a bit more power, so I increased the bore. Now I have to make new pistons, which have given me some problems. Oh well--where would my pea-brain be if it had no problems to solve???!!! Lee Robinson Oh yes, Satellite Beach is not too far, if I need a "guinea pig"!!!

Robinaire,
Did you ever work with Bearcat gear? I think I talked with you about gear a number of years ago but can't remember what.

Hi Gary; I should be able to remember that name--son is a Gary!! If you read the reply just above, the 3 gear mentioned going out next week are all Bearcats! Two more to follow the next week. To US, Canada and Germany. Also have order coming from Sweden. See my website at www.robinairerc..20m.com. For the rest of you I'm going to try to send a couple of pics of the 60 sized gear to the gallery, if I can find it again! Still working on the rotation parts, but will have to set it aside for a week so I can get the 3 promised Bearcat sets on the way!! Lee
