Gary,
Never fear I will make gear doors work on this plane one way or the other. I don't give up easy. Have you gotten around to fussing with my radial yet? No hurry just curious.

Been right here just lurking in the shadows steadily working on my beast. The retracts are in now and look good. She ****s 15 inches from the table to the bottom of the gull portion of the wing.

I installed all the airlines except the gear doors so far. I also installed the sequence valve, servo and #3 air tank in the wing. Here is what it looks like. The air cylinders are the gear doors but I want to test the system with the wing on the fuse before I run those lines and hook them up.

RE: Ziroli 124
My new issue to deal with. Since the wheels are so big there isn't room to put a faux rib in place far enough away from the side of the last rib of the center section so I could use off set hinges. I am experimenting with using my bench sander to sand some large robart hinges down to half thickness and glueing them to balsa gear doors. It looks like it will work but I would rather use metal off set hinges. I really don't dare to cut into the first rib of the outer wing panels for them to work. Any ideas anyone? Any suggestions or help will be appreciated here!!!

Bob sorry but that is the end of the center section. It has to stay put. Thats where the outer panels join the center section. I finally got my baby on her own legs today. Here she is. Just a few more months to go now!

Dave,
I am thinking that very thing over now. I have to pay off some other debts first but then the engine will come. I do know it won't be a high maint. radial though. I love them but I like the cowl to stay on more than off.

I cut the front of the cowl out and cut about .75 lbs. It turned out that it was 1/4" thick in spots. With a little more sanding it should look pretty good for my first try at it. The second picture is how it will be stored and transported.

I just saw the post. I'm shocked and very saddened.
It was noticeable that Barry had been making progress with his personal struggles. He seemed a much different person than the NCIS of the past. I believe the new Barry was the real Barry. A nice guy.
His family and friends have my most sincere sympathies.
You will be missed.

Hopefully someone is able to take what Barry has started and complete it in his memory!

I thought I saw that he was 57? I was looking to meet the cranky dude at Fond Du Lac this summer.

Barry had sent me his dummy radial to modify, like I had done to mine for Zombie. I would like to do the job just as he wanted it. I'll have it ready later this year. Hopefully, one of his local friends will be able to continue his wonderful Corsair build, and Barry's radial will be ready for it.
Wouldn't have it any other way my friend.
