Thanks for the reply............how about the CG?
It's a little nose heavy with a 1.20 OS 4s and an onboard glow. Weighs 10.5 lbs. But it flies great. Beautiful plane.

hey guys, for you guys that have the p-47 do you think that a o.s. 75ax,91fx-95ax motor will fit the the cowl with the motor mounted in the horizontal positon, with out the head sticking out the side? i would rather mount the motor sideways and use a pitts muffer then mount it inverted. thanks for any info.

if your going to mount your engine sideways the head will stick out the side of the cowl,or right up against it,so your going to open the cowl up at the head, if you chose the 75AX then the TF in cowl muffler works for that engine, a fellow club member has his 91fx mounted at a slight angle and a modified in cowl muffler he runs his slobbery rich to keep it cooler.

I went with the 120 4st mounted inverted just enough room in the cowl in my kit build

i was hoping that the motor would fit like it does on my kyosho fw 190 but i did not think the cowl would be smaller then that planes cowl.

looking at the 61fx you have in the FW190, I went ahead and checked the specs on the 75 and 95 there just a few MM larger, the cowl on the P-47 where the head would be is aprox 6" in Dia. I went downstairs to my shop and snapped a couple of pics for ya.

looks like the # on the 95AX are 3.2"from flange to top of head so pretty close but it looks like it might fit in there the head will be right up against the cowl for sure.

the 75 is 2.62" so it definitely will clear the cowl with some to spare, the photo of the top of the cowl I must have moved my hand when I snapped the pic[X(] but the thumb tells the tale of the tape

looks like the 95ax head will prob. stick though the side. the fw 190s cowl is about 6.75" in dia. but i think only just alittle would stick out, not bad for cooling but not good for looks! the cyl. head sticks out the bottom of my t.f. mustang and out the side of my g.p. revolver so i could live with that or i could go with a o.s. 110 mounted inverted. was trying to go the simple, low cost route with the 2 stroke- the fw190 flys great and sounds pretty decent with the 61-pitt muffler combo, and flys fast! anyways thanks bigtim for your help and pics.

Do you know where it balances.........the measurement. I've heard conflicting reports on where to balance this plane (I've heard the stock CG meaurement makes the plane fly nose heavy). I hate to add nose weight, only to have to remove it later.

Way to much power so I use the throttle accordingly. Has unlimited vertical. The panel lines are drawn on with an industrial strength sharpie pen from Office Max. I did not clear coat over the lines. The industrial strength pen seems to be very hard to remove. I use alcohol mixed with water for clean up. Plane flies awesome.

My wife is getting me a Warbird for xmas.   Im not  exactly an inexperienced pilot but Im not a experienced warbird pilot although I have had the H9 P-47 and the H9 Texan but that has been a couple years back and havent done any flying lately.   I enjoyed both the P-47 and Texan I just hated the Micky Mouse retracts that came on both of them and ended up selling both planes.     My question is do any of you guys have or have flown the new H9 P-47 Blue Nose.   If you have one or have flown one how flier friendly is it and how does or would it fly compared to the Top flite or H9 P-47.   Im just getting back into flying some and Im a little skeptical about which  plane to ask for.   I really like the new H9 P-51 Blue Nose especially the way H9 did their retracts on this bird  but I dont wont to get something that is a little to twitchy.    Ive never owned or flew a P-51 but I understand that they are not as flier friendly as some of the other Warbirds and this could be just a mind set but Ive always heard it around the field.  So let me know guys.  Ive posted a similar post on some other forums trying to get some feed back before I make my final decision so any and all opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks and All Have a Very Merry Christmas

I wouldn't even consider the Hangar 9 P51 Bluenose.  I have one - and it's an absolute piece of junk.  Retracts broke simply taxing the plane... It's a beautiful looking plane but some of the poorest work I've seen on any ARF.  Unless you're prepared to reglue 50% of the piece and add bracing... stay away....

The Top Flite P-47D on the otherhand is rock solid, excellent craftsmanship...   This was my first Top Flite product... and there's no comparision with any of the other ARF's I've assembled..

Same price too.

Chuck

Has anyone used a small gasser in the TF P-47 ARF 60?   Was considering the Satio 100 but leaning towards a YS 110 but would love to go with gas.
Thanks

Thanks and yes I did go electric, although it's probably my last eletric..  caught the fuel bug and am building a 100"ws Ziroli Stuka with a Zenoah G62...

I do like the sound of an electric - hearing the props and the wind.... and like the challenges of converting a fuel plane to electric (no challenge with the P47-d though).  The P47-D has an E-Flite Power 90 which is slightly overpowered for scale....  Even with the batteries mounted in the nose I'll still need to add a slight amount of weight for the CG...

Chuck

Hey Chuck, what you running for batteries, 6s? I'm doing a E90 with 6s on the TF Mustang with 6s and it flies great. I also purchased the H9 Mustang and was very disappointed in it. Looks great but does not fly nearly as well as the TF Mustang. I'm going to pedal the H9 and add the TF P47 to the stable. Jerry.

I'm running two 5000ma 4s in Series (i.e. 8 cell) plus a 3000ma 2s for the radio/servos.  Packed together they are a perfect fit in the nose.

The Saito FG-20 would be ideal. But, it's a bit pricey. A Zenoah G20 or an Aerovate 20cc (sold by Kondor Model Products or Troy Built Models) may also work.

Flew the maiden! Wow, what a fine looking bird screaming low and fast, just how I'd hoped. The Thunder Tiger F-91S combined with a Master Airscrew 14 x 6 prop absolutely makes this plane rip! Half throttle is just perfect for scale flight and full throttle flybys are stunning. The sound is awesome.

The recommend high rate throws for the ailerons are a bit conservative which make rolls a little too slow. I'll increase them by an 1/8 to a 1/4''.

The plane slows down really well and flaps would only be needed if I was flying on a shorter runway.

No video of today's flight, but I should have video of tomorrows.[img][/img]

Hey Chuck,
I'm working on mine right now.. I'll be running two 4s 30c 5000 mah like you
I have a Hacker A50-16L with a CC85

when you say you have your packs in the nose for CG ... do you really mean in the nose? I've opened up the hatch and both my packs fit prefect on the shelf provided..
do you have your pushed to the firewall? or are your packs really up in the cowl area? you have me scared

just want my CG to work out
thanks
Ron
