Thanks for sharing tempestmk5, and for the close ups of the gear doors. Do you slide the canopies?

We still hope to fly ours this year yet, and then continue with detail over the winter. We'll see. Waiting and waiting and still waiting on Flight Metal. He must be growing the aluminum trees, or something.

We don't slide the canopies. This is our building time as it is HOT out at the field. We are prepping for the winter and it looks to be a busy one. The silver one was in prime a few weeks ago and is just about finished. It's an obscure Polish-British version.Thats a Polish Air Force crest on the cowl. The name means "Junkyard Dog" or something close. The engine in Chris' plane is a ZDZ 100. Fits beautifully, and the exhaust was plumbed to exit out the original position.Sould be plenty of power.Paulie is priming it as we speak. One thing anyone with a 1/5 Meister should be aware of is the beautiful nomenclature kit that Dean sells for it. Every hatch.panel, and'' No Step" instruction is included as well as a chart for their placement.Really neat.

Thanks. We ordered glass from Zirolli and got that right away. Good outfit. It is the Flight Metal that we can't seem to take delivery of. They do accept payment though. I have heard from others that this is not unusual for these guys. We want to use this material, but am getting a little frustrated with the delay.

Our wings are done except the gear doors. Ready for glass in the next few days.

We are ordering the nomenclature and maybe the panel templates as well, along with the glass razor back and canopy. We have a bubble canopy if someone needs one.

Thanks for the post Dino. How would you compare this product to Flight Metal.? Are compound curves possible? We would have to cancel our order and try to get our money back. I'm willing to try for a workable alternative.

I have been told that its similar to Flite Metal. I also have been told that its better. Then again thats just an opinion of some guys. Maybe being nice. We do move the product well. I can send you a sample. As far as curves, no matter what metal you use that always tricky. Here is a thread on RCScalebuilder.com from Wayne who covered his L-19 in our foil...

http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...TID=12401&PN=1

Hope that helps! Email me direct at [email protected] with your address info... Ill send you some samples. Hows that??

Our Flight Metal finally did show up (nuts, I was going to try Dino's stuff), and we now have the gear door geometry all worked out and most of the parts are made. Wish we could say we were close to flying, but not yet.[]

Ours is finally taking shape. Got the wing bolted on and the base for the wing fillets glued in (2 layers of 1/64 ply). Wing fit perfectly the first time. Can't say enough about Jim's plans for fit. The tail is now part of the fuselage as well. We are using Gorilla glue for most of these assemblies.

That is a full size table saw it is sitting on. This is truly a big bird.

Here is what my brother did for the gear. Still some work to do on the inner door and well, but they fit perfectly now.
