Nine o nine: Why waste time and get grey hair on this module. Buy a new one!!! I have replaced my module at least once and the hall sensor cable too. Electronics do get broken...

Tom, I've checked all the wires...with a borrowed module everything's fine. Straightleg, I don't want to buy another module as I'm hoping that Rainbowtronics will have an improved replacement sometime in the future but noone knows if it'll be tomorrow or year or two. They've built a super replacement for the 150 but not the 215/250. That's why I'm hesitant about spending the big bucks for a replacement of a not so reliable unit.

I want to baffle my Moki250 going into my P-47 ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11000532/tm.htm ) however I have the way baffles typically look. I think i might have figured out how to baffle the cylinders and maintain good looks , maybe even a bit more scale for some applications .

I have been plying with dummy cylinders from the resin engines by www.franktiano.com . After a quick grinding/fit on one piece, it looks like these will fit nicely and provide the desired baffling effect. The resin is sufficiently resistant to heat that the engine temp should not be an issue. The picture is a raw resin cylinder, but when its painted and detailed, I hope it looks better than even just the moki alone with no baffles.

I only have to now figure out how to mount these.. I prefer having them towards the rear rather than out front. I am thinking of fabricating mounting tabs that would be attached by the cylinder mounting bolts, and the dummy cylinder could be attached to that. I could support the top side with a clamp, or even safety wire tied to the exhaust headers.

Anyone have any better ideas on mounting these ? I'll post more pics as mes around with this ..

This is an awesome idea…. and I may just have to use it for one of my birds.

Do you plan to bring your P47 to Warbirds over Delaware this year? If so, it would be great to get some photos of our Carf P47s together.

John, I really hope to have it out. With a 4 new 4 month old baby girl and my wife going back to work [&o] my model time has been slowed down. I am trying on focusing getting my projects finished one at a time, and the P-47 is at the top of the list currently

After reading the majority of advice from this thread I contacted Gotz . I ordered a Pump and that solved
my starts the 215 just took a few flips after the "pop" from choke few flips. I'm confident it will
solve my deadstick issues I was experiencing.

I also Ordered 2 lifter sets at his advice because both are older 215's.
When I replaced the lifters yesterday one of the balls was seized in place, one was
very rough in motion. 2/10 replaced were bad I'm probably lucky didn't fail already.

Also put on a 32*18 prop as well.

Got 25 flights on a new Moki 250 and runs great without an Electra Fuel Pump Have not installed a Pump am not sure if it may just have one more thing to Fail how many problems will be at fault one wire power supply wire or switch could fail and or pump motor fail.
I Look at the pressure tube to the carb and it is clean as the first day I got this motor I have herd it will get black residue can be seen in the line and to just clean it and move on.

Your pump might be working well. The key point; the engine will run apparently well lean...for awhile. When you tuned the high speed needle, would the engine go rich when opened too much? If so and then you leaned to maximum RPM and backed off an 1/8th turn then you are OK. Many Moki's I have worked with would not go rich thus demonstrating inadequate performance of the pulse pump. -Tom

I run the Motor on a test stand for 4 each 50oz. tanks of fuel for brake in. I checked the valves and adjusted the valve each time. The Motor was running very rich the lower cylinders were 75 degrees and not do much break in at that temp.

As I continued the break in on the third tank i started to lean both high and low with a long screw driver with the Engine running and found that here in Alaska the Motor with a 32x 19 prop it was turning 4800 rpm on the ground. I was able to adjust the the High side to rich or lean. I worked with that for a long time until it was not four cycling and running smothon the Lowl and High side. It has been running just fine and have not wanted to adjust it any more.

Hello Tom yeah I kinda like to put the moki 150 in my Corsair and put the 9 cylinder Evo in my Stearman only because the 9 for sure would fly it seems to be on the heavy side but more than likely I would be buying the 7 cylinder for the Stearman leaving 9 in my Corsair only because of tha cost but like I said if I can come across a good used moki 150

I have a question about crashed engines. I have a Moki 250 that was in a crash were the plane went straight in on the nose at high speed. The two lower cylinders cracked and collector ring broke and many rods bent or gone

Is it worth fixing or is it trash. Has this happened to anyone,I'm sure it has, that went ahead and had it repaired. What was the cost.

It's most likely only economically usable for parts. If the accesories are in good shape...ignition module, electric pump if installed I'd make an offer. Mitch
