RE: New 50CC Gasoline Engine from O.S. !!
no rear intake carb, still silly sideport silencer, still be a sod to cowl, no, not for me either, carbs are better when they suck air out the fuselage, aka zenoah with a carb bend through the bulkhead, or a rear intake motor,
They should be taking saito on, with the 20 and 36 fourstrokes, if they got them cheaper than the high price they are now, they would sell in bucketloads, why oh why do we need another 2stroke of this size?????

I dont think this engine will make it very long! If OS plans on pricing it over 600 then they just shot them selfs in the foot when you can buy a bullet proof DA 50 for 600 and also get DAs world class customer service with it! Sorry I will stick with DA and DL 50's!!! besides I really dont care for OS anyway! OS should worrie more about YS then gas engines.

To heck with the DA50, you can get a DLE55 for around $320! There is NO doubt it will outperform the OS 50 gasser.

Might I ask what kind of customer service you get with your DLE ? I have thought about buying one myself but I am not sure what kind of parts and service they have.

Looks like it's a 55cc.
No price mentioned in the advertisement.
No weight listed in the ad.
Anyone see a muffler attachment point in the picture?
The website linked doesn't find it by name.

On a plus side it might fit tight applications due to design will just to wait and see. On the other hand there are a bunch of nice 50cc engines out there for a lot less money. I have a friend that is flying a Turnigy 50 and I can't say anything bad about it at all and at $239 including muffler, stand offs, and ign hard to beat.

Hmmm I'll bet some good money however it will not sound like just another flying "chainsaw"
Iam still waiting for the large capacity 4-stroke singles or V- twins to appear for some of my larger 1/5 scale warbirds. My kingdom for a 50+cc 4-stroke with some serious power.....

OS is the world leader in WAY overpriced RC engines. If they can charge $300 for a .56 sized 4 stroke engine then charging $700 for a 55cc gas engine is almost expected!! And as has been stated above, all of the OS brand loyal brain washed RC'ers out there will probably be happy to shell out TWICE the amount for this engine that the rest of us pay for the other brands. Just my .02 cents worth......oh wait, better make that a nickel since I said the 2 magic letters O.S.

Big deal, it sounds like a chainsaw.... sorry the extra 4 or 5 HUNDRED dollars for it isn't worth that. PERIOD.
Its yet another overpriced OS engine that has been done a hundred times before.

I've read somewhere that OS sells over a quarter of a million (250,000) engines a year.
Guess that number might increase now they're branching out.

interesting.
This is a MAJOR move by our hobbys, market leading glow producer, into gas powered motors.
Quite an aggressive R&D strategy IMO... they've obviously put some thought into this... and if they've got it right, I'm sure it'll be bench mark stuff. Mind you even OS doesn't get right all the time.... .70 ultimate, the 200.. major disapointments. Even the 1.40RX, a serious pro user motor, was an seriously dodgy piece of kit when it was launched and required years for user experimenting to iron out the problems. But... if they've got it right....
Price wise, these are early days, the distributors won't have worked that out yet... but I suppose the major contributing factor is the low $ from your perspective. Looking at it from here via todays Norwegian Kroner, $700, is cheap for a quality piece of kit.
