Grumman F6F Hellcat Color Scheme
Approximately a year ago a fellow posted a Grumman F6F Hellcat for sale on RCU. I think that it was a Byron Originals kit. At any rate, the color scheme on this particular Hellcat was one of the best looking and most unique F6F color schemes I've ever seen. I'm building Ziroli Hellcat and would like to finish my plane in the same color scheme. I've searched high and low, but can't find this particular color scheme out there any where. Would any of you happen to remember the ad that I am talking about? I'm sure that it was posted in the Warbird section of the Sell Ads. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone may remember this plane and know how I could possibly retreive the ad from RCU's archives, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe even the seller or buyer of this Hellcat may see this request and be able to help me out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Chad. It was navy blue on top, white or off white on the bottom with white markings and some yellow trim. I pretty sure that it was advertised as a Byron Originals or possibly Iron Bay Modeling Co. plane. Thanks for your interest and willingness to help.

Hello WhoDaMan. Nope not this one. Although it's a good looking Hellcat. I think this one was sold by a fella out of South Carolina. Somebody Oberst, I think. I've seen his name a lot in the scale warbird circuit. Thanks for the help.

Hi Troy:
This is the one that Mike Orbest built. I think the one you are looking for was in Los Angeles, I remember it was a Byron and it was a high gloss and dark blue on top I tried to buy it and he woud not drive to meet and or he was very hard to get a hold of. I wish I would have copied the pictures on That

Mike Oberst goes by "IFLYBVM2" here on RC Universe. You might send him a PM to get the low down on the Hellcat. I can't think of any Hellcats with yellow trim other than those based on the Bunker Hill with yellow cowl rings. However, those were overall dark blue. Good luck with it.

I think that you're correct. Now that you've mentioned Los Angeles, I believe that I do remember that Hellcat coming out of CA. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Chad. I'll do a search around the USS Bunker Hill. Maybe I'll get lucky. I haven't been lucky in a while. Maybe tonight...........:-)

Here is how I'm going to paint mine but I admit it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
My next one will be in this color scheme. A bit more traditional but with enough trim to make it a bit easier to see.
