Enjoy your thread on the Mustang. I’m waiting on a EMS P-47 Camo Frank Tiano version from QV Warbirds.
Could you tell me where you got the Big Jim figure and the HK company you got the vest and mask.

DUFLID
DUFLID,
The Big Jim figure is by "Slimline" and I got him through Tower Hobbies. I got the vest and the O2 mask off of EBay from a seller named "minibarbie921". Both pieces were less than $20 shipped from HK and I got them in less than a week.

Happy Flying!

Hey JD,

Very nice install on the RCGF 26, that Keleo exhaust must be super thin at the manifold. I like the four blade prop, could you post what size it is and who makes it?

Happy Flying!

Hey Tomas,

So, you have the Aerovate engines for sale now. Great....could you please update the website to show this? It is hard to shop when all your product isn't advertised. Not trying to be a"Tire Kicker" but it is nice to see exactly what you might be ordering. We have talked in the past via email, but I want to see exactly what you sell. I am sure that I am not the only one that feels this way.

Loopman,

Thanks for the input and advise on the ball link. Will take care of that today. I wish I had decided to do this before assembling the tail section, sure would have had better access!
Done.

I plan to do some work on the Mustang today. Plan is to get the air system for the retracts in, as well as the Rx, battery and switch. She's getting done. Still waiting for the Dave Brown Spinner I ordered awhile back.

I would attempt to put the air bottle on top of the wing, that way you don't have to disconnect the lines and your refill valve could be hidden inside the air scoop, routing it through the sheeting, to exit out the bottom, where the scoop will be glued on. Just an idea.

Well,
Everything is done! Whew, another ARF labor of love. I received the YT air up/spring down cylinders and installed them. That not only upgraded the G5 gear but gave me the opportunity to apply "blue" loctite to all the retract screws. The new cylinders are top-notch and the gear works flawlessly (at least on the bench). Here are a few final shop pics. "Big Jim" sez "Well pilgrim, enough of this ***** footin around the ole workshop, let's get this pony up in the air."

Happy Flying!

Loopman,

Thanks for the input and advise on the ball link. Will take care of that today. I wish I had decided to do this before assembling the tail section, sure would have had better access!
Done.

i do NOT like this ball link, its insecure, if you must use this method (the pull pull is VERY good) then use a ball link that a bolt passes through, clamping the ball to the horn, and use 2 nuts, one to lock the other, the link you have chosen could, under heavy stress, pull off the ballits just not worth it!!! sorry, but i am an engineer, and that looks just not up to it,

The ball link he has looks better than what he originally started with! I do agree that a 4-40 Du-Bro ball link, like you're referring to would be the best. The ones I use are used for control linkages on all of my big 3D birds and are rock solid. I use Pull-Pull on my 3D machines on rudder, but would never consider it for elevator. JM2C!

Okay, P-51B is 99% complete. Finally got my Spinner adapter in and with it's arrival, my desire to get the Mustang done also returned! Got the retracts and all airlines installed, but have found that they are not wanting to cooperate. They don't want to retract all the way. Like low pressure rearing its ugly head, maybe a leak? Will be double check for that today. Also managed to cut out the canopy without too much butchery. Stood her up on her own three legs yesterday, and seeing her sitting there, I am re-thinking my decision to not add anything to the cockpit area other than a pilot. I think he might, at minimum, require an armor plate and radio. We'll see as the day goes by how much I feel like getting into it. It looks really nice so far! CG is a bit forward at 145mm, might have to relocate the ignition battery a little further back.

Well Gang,
Maybe the weather gods will smile this Saturday! It's suppose to be in the 60's with 7-10mph winds. I'll believe it when I see it! All things being equal, I am shooting for Saturday for the maiden.

Happy Flying!

Still need to track down an air leak in the retract system and add the gear doors, but here she is as of now.
