Default Your two favorite warbirds?

Two please, only two.

I'm not a pilot, and never having flown any plane, let alone a warbird, makes my views a little skewed compared to an actual combat pilot I'm sure.

Ilove WWIIbirds though, something about that entire era has held my interest since I was 10 years old or younger.

If Ihave to choose two planes only, my first and foremost would definately be the A6M3 (not 5) Zero. It's simplicity and maneuverability have held my attention for years. Yes it had many, many shortcomings and downfalls, but as it was probably the first warbird I really fell in love with, it still ranks at the top for me.

Second plane, well, I really don't know enough to pick one over the other and it changes from moment to moment as I learn more. At the moment though it would probably be one of the variants of the ME-109s, for the same reason as the Zero, simplistic yet efficient approach to achieving the goal of their designers.

By the end of the war both the Zero and 109 were outclassed, (the Zero more so than the 109)but at the beginning of the war both were quite impressive and I still love 'em.

hmmm tuff one,

but i would have to say the F6F hellcat and the other would probably be the A-10 warthog tank buster for the shear firepower it had.

FW 190 A-8 nice radial slick, good view, outstanding overall performance
P-47D 2RA (razorback) a heavyweight huge airplane, massive firepower and still don't fly like a tank

Two most favorites of all time...
Me-109 G
ME-262

But.....as far as actually flying a model, the ME-109 is not that easy a plane to deal with on the ground. In that respect, Id go with any variant of the FW-190 due to wide gear stance with the FW-190 D9 probably being top of the list overall.

Hello!

My two favourite warbirds of the era would have to the:

Yakolev Yak-3, an unbelievably maneuverable (and good looking) fighter of the war.

and

Me-163, an unbelievably advanced fighter (with all sorts of horror stories of pilots being dissolved by the fuel [X(])

Ta 152C and H. Top of the line single engined prop planes of the war. There was nothing better.

Ta 154 even the Germans knew the Mossie was a great bird, and they went and would have done one better if they had the glue and engines to do so.

I'm having a 120" Ta-154 cut for me. Would love to build it if I ever get it...
