Default Top Flite Focke-Wulf 190-D9

I have just purchased a Top Flite Kit of the FW190 D9 "Long Nose". It is out of stock from TF now, but I bought it from someone who had purchased the kit but given up on starting the build. I plan a color-scheme along the lines "Rote 1" of the "Wuerger-Staffel" of the JV44, flown by Karl Heinz Sachsenberg. These planes were flown by the famous Jagdverband44 to protect the "Experten"-pilots flying the Me262 on take-offs and landings.

I started the build by completing the stab-configuration. As usual with Top Flite, everything goes nicely together

Great! Do you have any pictures of the building project? What sort of retracts and what engine didyou use? I will be glassing the model and then painting it (in the above scheme).

You can check out my build here. I'm useing spring air retracts with Shindin machine struts. Engine is a saito 125A. Its also glassed and in the dirty stages of finishing. Williams brothers wheels. Spinner is from Skyshark.

I would like to pick up a couple of parts for my TF190D9, I got a cowl and gun hood from http://www.stansfibertech.com/ but from what I have seen of some of his other parts there a nice upgrade

I will be using a more scale-like cowling. Your mention of the pattern-like flight characteristics of thid bird is interesting, I thought the same myself. A Saito125A would be perfect. I use this engine in my Top Flite P47 .60 size and it hauls that model easily though an Imac Basic program.

Bigtim: thanks for the pointer to the scale accessories!

Excellent plane, the saito will be just right. I have a ys 1.20 in mine and she flies great. I bought all the accessories from wolfman for my project also. even the cd of his build. The guy is an outstanding builder. Anyway good luck and I'll follow your build.

The static spinner is from wolfman and the flying spinner is from skyshark.

Thanks for the input on the spinners! I see that skyshark also provides Robart retracts for this model, is that the one you have used?

I went with spring air uppers and custom struts made by lite-flyte products 864-886-0095. They are really good and strong.

I made some progress last night, building the top half of the fuselage, what remains is the sheeting.

Here's a picture. I am having trouble with the pictures coming out too large, all of a sudden. I just upload them as I have done above. Does anyone have any idea of what might be happening?

I've had it happen to me just a couple of times, not sure why.

P47Pilot: The properties (right click on the picture) on your last picture show it is about 678Kb in size. The others are 50 to 60Kb in size. You might try resizing the last picture to 50 - 60 Kb, then attach it to a new post to see if it comes out like the others.

An absolutely beautiful "Papagei"! Red 1 is a very interesting airplane. Incidentally, how did you go about applying the inscription " Verkaaft's mei Gwand 'I foahr in himmel!" on the port side of the cockpit?

What is the size of this model, what is the manufacturer, and what engine areyou using?

not sure if you know this or not, but there is a very informative CD that RCScale builder has for sale by builder ANTON,I think I paid 15$, with alot of helpfull information and tips,I got one, and became a site supporter in one shot,it was edited to reflect the builders posts with accompanying photos, in as much as I spend most of my RC on line time on RCU I still use RCSB as a building, and reference site, the talent level on some of the projects is outstanding.

I just ordered my paints for my FW190A8 last night from www.warbirdcolors.com .

the photo issue is a strange one I think it may be on RCU's end, because I have had this issue before when posting some photos that came out fine on one post, but super large on others, you could try to delete the pics on the first post and try again on another just to check, the pic size isn't that large, I post regularly on my build thread using my small Digital camera wihtout having to resize them at all.

Thanks for very useful info, I will look into this.

Regarding your last remark: I deleted the picture and reloaded it and now it came out fine. I think you are right, the problem was at the RCUend: apparently the uploading procedure entails an automatic resizing of the picture which for some reason was not operative last night, but is now.

Cheers!

Made a bit of progress in sheeting the upper half of the fuse tonight. This is the most tricky part of the sheeting of this model, from what I can see.
