Anyone installed the Sierra retracts into their Spitfire? Appreciate any help or pic's if you have, looks like some major mods required to get them to fit. Cheers,
Dave

Sorry, It's a french site. But it's the same plane! With sierra retract. and it's very difficult to put in the wing.

I just finished modifying the wings for the Sierra retracts. Getting them to fit was not that bad, the only thing that annoyed me was that the front piece of the base of the retract unit hit one of the spar supports. I ended up cutting about half an inch off the corner of the unit. This all was not too difficult, though; i got the second wing done in just over a half-hour. If anyone want's pictures, I could provide some.

How's progress? I have the 74.5 inch spit, and am wondering if this version is identical, just bigger. Had the same issues with the contols and pull/pull, but I figured it out... now I'm trying to find a good method to mount the engine. Anyone have any pics of theirs?

You can get the 88" Spit from Magnum RC with a 2% discount for cash. This is where I shop... www.magnumrc.com Check out the scale exhaust for my P-40.... This set of stacks are also available for this Spitfire.

The 88" spitfire you are referring to is not listed on MagnumRc's website. The plane, made by Vantex, which was sold under the KMP name in North America for a bit can be bought overseas or from Hobbyking in the USA warehouse. From Hobbyking, the plane is only $450.
The only thing listed for that 88" Spit on Magnums site is the cockpit kit. It will NOT however, fit the ESM plane.
Also...Magnum's "sale" prices are the same regular prices Troybuilt and VQwarbirds list the ESM planes to begin with.

Page 5,,, AND you don't pay by credit card, but by check or money order from a US acct to get the 2% discount. This is an ESM build thread... I lost you when you said Vantex or something. Shipping is a little less and you get a 2% discount. Kelvin from Keleo Creations makes the stacks. He does not have them ready yet, but the ESM Spit Stacks are on the design board.

You said 88" spitfire in your post....the ESM is 89" so when you said 88", I was thinking you were referring to the KMP spitfire which is actually made by Vantex in china. I know magnum lists the ESM as that's the only brand they sell for planes, however, they do sell the cockpit kit for the Hobbyking spitfire(vantex brand) that KMP used to sell. I know I didn't lose you when I brought this up because you work for KMP.

Yep you are right I missed the wing measurement by 1 inch.... the plane I was refering to was the ESM Spit, And I do not know who Vantex is and I could care less. But then again, what is the point of this debate. I felt there was value in pointing out some good resources for modelers to consider. Kelvin's stacks, though expensive, are a huge add to the scale of the plane. They will be similiar to these P-40 stacks I just installed. Imagine the cool factor when I hook up a smoke system to them.......

Those Keleo exhausts will most definitely look cool in action, especially with a smoke system.
As for magnumrc....yes its always nice to have several different places to buy things from. I actually bought the cockpit kit for the hobbyking spitfire from them.
