Top Flite Giant Scale ARFs & RTCs
Does anyone know what future Top Flite Giant Scale Warbird ARF's will be released; so far Top Flite has released: P-51 ARF & RTC Version; P-47 ARF & RTC Version and in September a P-40 ARF.
I have the P-51 and P-47 both RTC versions; I want to add another Giant Scale Warbird to my Hanger; I mainly put together ARF's, no time for Kit Building; the soon to be released P-40 looks good, but I'm not a big fan of the P-40 in the Flying Tiger scheme; although I would be interested in a RTC version, but truly I would love to see another Top Flite Giant Scale ARF, like a Zero.
Thanks

If you go to the Top Flite website, they have somethin where you can suggest there next plane. I've suggested a ME109 arf and also a zero. They send me emails back about what they might do, and more suggestions. The ARFs they have now are getting kinda old, they need to upgrade there stash!

"Have you considered buying that P-40 and just removing the existing covering?"
Yes; but I wanted to get an ARF this winter that I didn't have to do anything with the covering; last 2 RTC's I glassed because I wanted my own scheme and didn't like Shinny Monokote on a Warbird; however, they are now making ARF's with Flat Finish Coverings; I realize I'm trying to build the easy way out, and removing the covering just to recover isn't the route I want to go; thanks for the suggestion and I have considered it, and still am; I was hoping for a Zero, maybe next year.

I noticed a while back that Tower is listing (in "Just Announed") parts for Top Flite WWII ARF's. One of these is a set of fixed gear for a "TOP .60 Corsair A" (rf). From this I can speculate two things. They are probably going to continue and offer other WWII ARFS and one of these is probably going to be a 60 sized Corsair - at least I hope.

I wish they made more RTC models. I hate monokote, its just not the same as fiberglass and paint, and it looks like crap when it wrinkles, and its boring taking the iron and heat gun to em. I bet they would do a corsair, just because they could probably take the giant corsair kits they have, build them, cover them, and theres your arf.

I would like to see them bring back the fw190 as an arf, and also a giant scale arf and arc. The fw190 is a great flying plane.

I agree. I have suggested toTop Flite to make a GS FW190 D9 "Longnose" in the rather unusual and interesting colour scheme of the Wuerger Staffel of the JV44.

Its really funny but RC is really trendy . I remeber about 8 years ago speaking with the owners of Hobby Shack /now Hobby People .
THey imported ARCs with some really nice wood work . I have the Model Tech P51 still new in box because I got it as a closeout for $129 vs the starting price $229 .
The airframe only arc has all the counter balances ect build in . They said at the time of the ARF explosiion "ya the avg RC guys does not even want to cover his models anymore "
Its so ironic how things come full circle , I wonder if we will go back from arc to asking for more lasor cut kits ? or perhaps a new Prefabercated kit , some what like a modula home ??? lol

Just a note, KMP is coming out with an 85'' FW190 Dora in about 3 or 4 months. They just flew the proto last month and are ready for production Fiberglass fuse and built up wings

On the other hand if its an ESM design you probably could buy it from VQ warbirds.

Appreciate the Info on KMP/ESM; I was mainly interested in Top Flite Giant Scale Warbird ARFs and RTCs in the 50cc gas size.

Here is another little tip, Tower just put the Top Flite GS Corsair kits on special!! Sounds like an unload of kits to make room for the arf

The TF ARF's are very well done but having just completed the 60 size P-51 ARF with it's fit and finish issues makes me prefer ARC's. The ARF's are sweet and quick to get in the air but I can do a better job overall.
ARF's are great for the guy lacking time or building skills but it often degrades a beautifully done kit or scratch model. Now the often heard question at the field is "who makes that ARF?" even when it isn't one.
I'm glad to see Tower/Topflite doing ARC's and wish they would in the 60 sizes also. I have several NIB 1/5 Mustang ARC's for future projects as building time is a premium right now.
An earlier post mentioned the 60 size Modeltech ARC from Hobby People. Mine weighed just under eight pounds RTF with retracts and Monokote/Paint finish. A beautiful flying Mustang.
