Most menacing? Nah. that would be the G-10 or K-4.

The F's and G-1 to G-4 were better, cleaner looking, in my opinion. Not a fan of Beules.

I love the blisters too!! They give that plane a menacing, evil look, I just love them.

It looks veeeery nice! The blisters are removable, by the way.

Best looking ESM so far, if you ask me.:D:D:D

Just reserved mine with Arf pros, they stated they will have them this summer..

fockewulf37 01-06-2011 04:52 PM

RE: ESM Bf 109G

73" would not be correct for a 50cc plane..

Don't forget VQ Warbirds will also have them ...A long with Sierra gear and other accessories....

RE: ESM Bf 109G

The YT web sites states 87". I think it is one of the best ME-109 arfs I have seen . Thw little wider landing gear will help with ground handeling. The later G models have a lot of character with all the bumps and different packages they had for them. Like Dave Platt once said mean and sinister looking . VQ e-maild me and stated sometime in late March or April but that was only an estiment. The P-39 and FW-190 will be the next ones out before the ME-109

thanks Bob

Having all these new German warbirds come out as ARF's makes my life easier when I tell the wife I want one. She's been trying to get me away from kits for years now.. She may even buy it for me like the FW190D due here soon.

That would be AWESOME since my B-day is in March.. Something else to look forward too.:D

It will be interesting if they will offer a spinner for it???

RE: ESM Bf 109G

Honestly its hard for me to comment on it, none of the images are large and none show the plane from good angles.

The tail wheel setup looks a bit weak and a bit too tall, but for the most part, it doesn't look all that bad.

vik 01-07-2011 04:30 AM

RE: ESM Bf 109G

I agree
It does not look bad.
Pitty of the wide undercarrige and small wheels.
Second thing is easier to change than the first one though.

RE: ESM Bf 109G

In a couple of the photo's it looks like they just used a wire tail wheel strut but in two of them it looks like they have a scale fixed tail wheel unit. The wheels actually do not look like they are to small, maybe just a little, the ME-109 did not have large wheels, actually they used 2 different size but neither were that large. They look like they have a good angle on the gear but they are wideer then they should be but I think most would thank them for that, it will make take offs a lot easier.

thanks bob

RE: ESM Bf 109G

First if anyone takes this post as an insult to ESM and YT, go pound sand. Its not meant as anything other than my comments on a decent looking warbird.

Yes, they seem to have moved from a wire to a real strut, but its far too tall, that would be good on LATE model G's with the wooden tall tail, but not the G6. The G6 tailwheel was fixed too.

All in all it looks decent and should be very easy to bang up into one hell of a nice looking early Bf 109 G6

One major thing... you guys are using the wrong canopy. Black 14 was fitted from the factory with an Erla canopy according to my sources.

Anyways, some minor things.

1.) The shape of the supercharger intake is off. The G6's intake was a simple thing. Similar to the mid model F's. The one on this model looks like a later G intake.
2.) The intake is located too far back on the fuse. The root of the intake should end where the split for the cowling is and the lip should end at the start of the 6th exhaust port.
3.) The oil cooler under the nose isn't deep enough. Looks to be about 1/4" to 1/2" missing.
4.) The radiators or the gear struts are in the wrong place. The radiators start flush to wear the wing joins the fuslage and extends NEARLY to the center of the wheel hub when retracted. I cannot tell from those images where the radiators start, but they start quite a bit behind the wheel well, well behind the wing centerline.
5.) The gun troughs are the wrong shape and seem a bit too long, there are no good images of the ESM bird at the right angle for me to be sure however.
6.) The rudder shape isn't quite right

Here is a FANTASIC image of a plastic model with the 8./JG 1, early Feb 1944 paint job:

But Merlin

What if its a good value? One can change those things. Too big for me though.

I'm interested to know the spinner size in relation to the scale of the model. And material.

A quality spinner should be included, its unique and so much apart of what this plane is. So many companies cheat on the spinners.

A Shame

Steve

RE: ESM Bf 109G

Well, the canopy does throw a wrench into it as it does have the wrong version. Sooo I'm hoping that Ty can change this like he did with the FW190. All the other minor too scale to care and not everyone will be looking at things can also be changed if desired.

But the canopy is a dead giveaway for anyone that knows that version.[:'(] There are several companies that make the ME109G kit which sell the proper later canopy that should fit this.

RE: ESM Bf 109G

I 'am looking at some photo's of the G-5 & G-6 and their canopies match that of the ESM , I 'am also looking at the later G-6 and that has the erla haube canopy so I think they got it right. The long tail wheel strut is wrong on this version , I look at this as a good stand off scale plane not a FAI scale plane so we live with the minor discrepencies unles like I said you want FAI. It goes back to the old saying if you want it right then do it yourself.

thanks bob
