RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
I am to the point of installing engines and have the plane glassed. I will post more pics later, I don't want to spoil it all at once.

Ya gotta love a plane so big that it needs two pics to show the whole thing. This one certainly did.<div>

Nice looking plane. What's the wingspan?
|
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
G62s ????????????????[:-] Aint that a bit much ? Look like 35s would hall the hell out that bird.
|
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
G-62's aren't too much with a projected weight approaching 200lbs
|
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
What if it is only 100 pounds? I have 4 Zenoa 20's brand new in the box that would just about taxi it nicely. G-62's ARE too much if you only plan on it being a hanger queen.
Most throttles on a transmitter are not on a toggle switch for a reason. AKA a more scale size prop at 1/2 throttle should look and sound great. Rebel |

Here you go! That B-17 is much bigger than it appears!
•Wingspan: ............207" •Length: .................146-1/4" •Wing Area: ...........3375sqin •Weight: ................85 to 100 lbs •Engines: ...............4x - 50cc~60cc •Servos: ................4-engine, 2-aileron, 2- flaps, 2-elevator, 1-rudder, 1- steering, 2-langing gear http://www.wingspanmodels.com/Produc...FG/B-17FG.html |
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
Oh and keep up the good work MEMPHISBELLE ! I'm watching from the sidelines! That one is on my to do list someday!

RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
ORIGINAL: 91zulu G62s ????????????????[:-] Aint that a bit much ? Look like 35s would hall the hell out that bird. |
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
With 11" diameter nacelles a whimpy 38 and 20" prop just will not cut it. The 62's are just what it needs with 24x10 three blade props. this is no barn burning rocket ship, so the 62's at about 5500 rpm work real good. They(meaning 4) also add alittle extra weight to the nose that helps out greatly.

MEMPHISBELLE :
This is looking great. We live close enough so when you get ready to maiden it I would love to come up and see it. We may have been to a few fly ins together and really do not know it![8D] Where do you fly out of? Is this a pretty good kit, would you recommend it? Keep it going and us informed!!!!![8D] |
RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
I don't fly any more. I used to fly out of peoria rc modelers. I've flown at matoon with my stuka and 1/9th B-17,at bloomington S.I.R.S and pekin r/c club. I just don't have the time to fly anymore so I have sold my B-17 and B-24 to Cal Branton from MN. I am building this for him so the maiden will be up there. This will be the last of the builds for me. Good kit , time consuming and expensive.
