Need a new twin...

Gents, o' heavy metal gods, those addicted like me...

I'm in need of a big twin. I lost my ESM BF110E two sundays ago and I'm itching for my next black hole of discretionary spending. I'm thinning the hangar, selling ARFs, radios, engines to fund a big twin.

I'd prefer to go with a traditional warbird... Mosquito, Bristol Beaufighter, DC-3 as a last resort (doesn't give me that bulldog feeling).

If you've got a friend on the flightline who's tired of his 95 inch or bigger twin engine warbird please tell him you read about a guy who enjoys the endless struggle of owning a twin. I'm looking for something to run gas DLE20s or bigger. Please no B17s with 4 OS52's. I have no desire to stick build a plane as I'd probably just ruin it.

This is a pic of my recently departed ESM BF110 E running twin DLE20s

Hard to believe there isn't a bunch of planes out there waiting for a new home... Come on... you know that Ziroli P38 wants to get out of the garage.

There's a DC-3 back east but I haven't heard back re: shipping costs... Thanks ahead of time for any replies!

I've got a 95" Mosquito in primer..but that's a LONG drive from Ladera Ranch to Joliet, IL, and shipping would be crazy $.

Was going to use OS 1.2 AX's but DLE20's would be an easy drop in.

What happened to your me-110? Lose an engine? Why not just acquire another me-110. I love mine...flies awesome....but mine has more power then your two 20cc motors are providing.

If you don't want to replace the me-110, how about an F7 tigercat. Your two 20cc motors should power that one easily as the wingspan is smaller at 82.9"

Kahlog... The BF-110 was a complete loss... I had two great flights that morning and then the worst happened... 3rd flight started with a perfect take off, pulled up the gear just off deck, trimmed the downwind leg and turned into the upwind and as soon as the plane passed me I lost all radio contact... This, mind you, with a SmartFly power setup w/ dual LiFE 6.6 batteries. The plane climbed under 1/2 throttle to about 400 feet winged over and crashed into the parking lot behind the flightline just 35 feet from all the cars... Thank God no one was hurt!... shrapnel from the plane did $4000 damage to nearby cars (3 club mates) and was a total loss... AMA insurance covered the property damaged less the $250 deductible...

I've since sold my Airtronics SD10G gear and now very happy with a Futaba 14SG... Believe me when I say that I don't blame Airtronics for the crash I just harken to times when I'd get those little hiccups while flying. I cant find the pic but one of the DLE's had the piston come out the side...

It sucks when you take your giant, lovingly assembled, well maintained warbird home in trash bags... As a side note... If someone in your club plants his plane it does not constitute an opportunity to rifle the remains for parts you'd like to use. I'm still missing 2 Hitec 5645's and 1 hi torque micro digital.

only the tailwheel servo and the RTL fasteners was ok after the crash. everything else was too far gone...

I can feel your pain. I just lost my 50cc 89" Spitfire a week ago. Wasn't a radio failure, but a structural failure on the plane. It was the Hobbyking 50cc Spit. Its got plug in wings, but, the wings are held on by two small bolts going thru small wood tabs. My gear locked in the up position and tried a few rolls and nothing. It was suggested I take it up high then do a loop and pull up a bit hard to get them to loose up and drop down. Well.....on the bottom of the loop, those tabs on the right wing completely broke inside the belly of the fuse and the wing slid off the aluminum tube. Plane is a total loss like yours.
Same thing happened to me as well....some of the servos and the two rx batteries came up missing when me and a few others went to pick up the wreckage.
This is what it looked prior to the accident. Plane flew great up to that point. It wasn't its first flight when it went in, but didn't get a chance to enjoy the plane either.

BTW...ESM is coming out with a 93" P-38. I don't know what the release date is though.

I know it's been awhile for this post... I just got shipping confirmation on the ESM DC3 from TBM. I also bought the DLE20RA's for her... Since I want it to be a multi season plane and not a maiden or hangar queen I'm going to use Futaba SBus servos with power in the wings and fuse. The SBus extension cables only 3 ports but we'll see... I'll need a port for Aileron, Flap, and throttle. I may get creative and try the SBus hubs.

Here's on in SoCal that's almost too good to pass up, Google maps shows it as an hour's drive...
