Warbird Colors paint

As my byron corsair nears completion , i'm starting to think of what paint to use. i looked at warbird colors and thought that might work . i miss the chevron perfect paint days . you could not screw that paint up. i used Klasscote on my AT-6 but found it was pricey, smelly and it likes to shrink "due to it being epoxy based" though the t-6 came out nice , it had a long learning curve. So i started this thread to get some of " The Good , The Bad and the ugly of Warbird colors . http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1916544http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1916545

If you search, there's a longish thread on Warbird colors. No need for another one huh :)

I can send you an article I wrote on the stuff for one of the British scale mags warbird_1. However, it is based on the old formula and I've not yet tried the new formula so can't really say how much of what I wrote is applicable to the current product. I was very pleased with the results and being able to thin and clean up the paint with plain old tap water was fantastic.

I've used WBC on several projects and really like it. Like Chad I've not used the new stuff yet. Hopefully there's not a significance difference. With the exception of no hardener for it.

If you have a plane with glow fuel engine you can use acrylic clearcoat for automobile or your plane have a gasoline engine you can use a nitro clearcoat for automobile or Spray on 400ml

Subscribed. I've used the old formula and really liked it. But havent used the new formula yet. I want to know the same thing, how does it do with gas. I havent given it much thought about a clear coat. Most I've read about use an automotive clear coat. I normally try to stay away from the real caustic kind of paints but I may not have a choice in this case. An alternative might be latex on the next project.

has anyone used the new formula yet? i don't want to clear coat if the new stuff is gasoline friendly. WB_1

I've used both the new and old on the same model. They are near identical as far as coverage and useability. Unfortunately, both were not clear coated as the model was electric. I have heard that the new stuff requires a clear coat. Fortunately for me, I have 1/2 gallon of the original clear still unopened in the cans :)
