TF 60 Corsair flaps
 

I am stumped on this one and thought I was pretty good at linkages, but I cant wrap my head around how to make them work using one servo and bellcranks. I recall seeing somewhere that someone did something like this but cant find it. I recall that a horn was reshaped to be hidden in the flap, and then pushrods connect to that to a bellcrank, but thats all I remember. If someone has done this or knows where its at, would be greatly appreciated. I got my retracts in last week and tested them out and they look great, so two things left to do before I can finish the sheeting, the flap mechanism and the gear mounts.

I cannot believe that in 55 viewings, i was the only one in the whole wide world that commented on your post, ah well, i do have this gold edition corsair, but its way at the back of the deep storage, awaiting its turn to be finished, if no-one else can help, i will dig it out,

One servo and 90degree bellcranks?

Servo drives a left pushrod and a right pushrod. Drive both from "one place" on the servo. So both pushrods move in the same left-right direction when the servo moves it's arm.

Now install all the 90degree bellcranks in the same direction when viewed from above. Say they look like L from above... servo drive the forward arm. arm pointing to the right drives a flap.

Well after several hours mocking up the flaps I finally figured out the mechanism. At least the wing portion is done. Last thing left on the wing is to figure out an easier way to attach the servo links to get the servo in and out easily. The links are "almost" short enough to slip in, but not quite.

I used the swivel links for this like I used for the wheel doors on the P-51. The pushrods for the flaps are not in a position that would work with one link to be symmetrical. According to the plans, the links need to be at a certain position so I did the setup based on that. The most difficult part was figuring out the hidden link on the flap itself. I mocked up a part of the flap and got it all working.

The part I mocked up can probably be used as is after trimming and securing the horn. It works quite well, and with a little fine tuning I should be able to have two flap positions.
